I know there was a guy, in the UK I think, and he might even be a member here, offering a Minestorm / Pole Postion combo, but it was quite expensive, bearing in mind it was two sheets of rigid plastic.(Pole Position always struck me as a odd choice - great game, but not easy to get hold of over here in the UK. I got my copy from JD.) I think the Pole Position overlay is justified by how expensive the complete original game is, how easy it is to get on multicart, and then how great it looks with the overlay. I think I saw on vetrexmad's site that the two overlays he chose to make were the two 'most requested'. Pole position is one of the few games where the overlay actually has concrete registration with the game images (i.e. each color articulates a different part of the landscape). It makes a big difference in that game.

It makes a big difference in that game. Yeah, he has always said that the game actually LOOKS like it's in color with the overlay.

Mmm. I can see that makes sense.

Yeah, VectrexMad had those made. Those were professionally done. Unfortunately some were scratched up when the die-cutters took it upon themselves to use a bristle brush to give the overlays a good cleaning The MineStorm overlay was a bit thinner than normal, but still completely suitable. I think the micron thickness was in the 300's, and the Pole Position one was in the 400's which is what the original overlays were.

The Warrior overlay looks like it's been changed again. Looks like vectors might've also been added to the pits. A good idea in case something happens to the overlay, although hopefully there will be the ability to play without those in case people want to play like it was originally designed.

Ah man it looks like the release date changed again too. ... I think i like the changes to the overlay though. At least the characters at the bottom i definitely prefer over the skull and spider graphics. Looks like some things were eliminated from the play field.

I've liked all the overlays thus far. Hope everything's been settled now though!

The pits are now being drawn as a part of the game. I just couldn't get past the idea that the warriors would fall into pits above their heads. I've attached a photo of the original game art so you can see clearly how the pits were done. The release date is just a few days later. Attachments:

Drawing in the pits is a good idea, I reckon. Hey Fury! How about doing a completely clear overla..... sorry. Got carried away again.

I should snaffle that last copy now it's playable without overlay but I've had a costly last couple of months - new (old) six-string etc.. and then the clutch went on the car last week. Bugger. If I made another purchase the wife would be wearing my knackers as a necklace.
