Hi, I've been wanting a Vectrex since I was young, and I finally got one on ebay. I was excited to see all of the new Homebrew games available, but the only place that I could find to order some of the older ones was Classic Game Creations.com (the original programmer's site maybe?). I sent a few emails trying to order some, but I didn't get any response (I am impatient though lol!). I was just wondering if the site is still active, and if cartridges can still be ordered. If not, where can I buy some besides ebay? Right now I own Bezerk, Scramble, and Star Trek, and I have a 32 in 1 multicart coming from ebay. I really want the Protector/YASI cart, and Space Frenzy among others. I'd love to buy Vector Pilot and Vectrexians too, but I live in the U.S., and the import cost is too steep right now. Anyone know where I can get these cheaper in the states? Sorry for all the questions! I'm really excited by the Vectrex, and want to get a nice collection going

Hi Noah98. Welcome aboard. I think you'll find JD is still active. There has been no word on this site to suggest any different. Perhaps he's on holiday! Protector/YASI is a must have. Check out Furys site as well for some homebrews.

Thanks! I was hoping that he was just away.
I'm definitely planning on checking out the Fury games. I'm trying to decide between War of the Worlds and Zantis.
I also ordered a modded Sega Genesis 6-button arcade stick from Recycled Gamer. Can't wait for it to arrive as well!

John's still active, it's just that he's been even busier than he normally is over the last few months. He's working like three part time jobs, I do believe, if you're counting (which you should!) making his games as one of his jobs, maybe even four if you count him taking over the old vectrexcarts.com site (although I just look at that as to being one big Vectrex job if you ask me!).

Got in touch with John, and I ordered Protector/YASI and Space Frenzy. Any other must haves?

Nebula Commander Thrust V-Frogger (might be on your multicart already though) Vecmania (nine games) Gravitrex Plus (can't personally confirm this, since it's the last one of John's that I want that I don't have, but everyone else says so ;D )

Thrust definitely. Gravitrex... mmm s'ok. Space Frenzy either good or indifferent depending on your Vectrex. On mine the hit detection is frustratingly poor.
But what one's to get?
All of them.

I have a feeling that poor John is going to be hearing from me a lot!
I think I want Thrust next, and maybe Frogger. I have Nebula Commander on my multicart, but I couldn't figure out how to play (I only tried it briefly though).

I have a feeling that poor John is going to be hearing from me a lot! Oh darn! I think I want Thrust next, and maybe Frogger. As I posted on here before elsewhere, not only are they great games, but they're cheap, being less than $15 each! I have Nebula Commander on my multicart, but I couldn't figure out how to play (I only tried it briefly though). Yeah I didn't know what to do either when I tried out the ROM but it's not real complicated. Instructions, a full write-up and even a review of it can be seen here.

I ordered from Dondzilla's website a couple weeks ago. Took a couple days to respond to my email, but shipped quite quickly.
Ordered from him again a few days ago. I tried to keep my emails very concise since he seems like a busy guy and also just out of humble respect for one of the Vectrex homebrew pioneers, and I think that helped to make it a quick and smooth transaction.
... I, Cyborg is the only Fury game I've acquired, and I would positively call it an essential Vectrex cartridge. The carts of this game he has been selling recently are a limited re-release of this 2004 game, and it appears they are almost gone! I saw a post of his on atariage.com forums from 2007 where he claimed it was his best game to date.
From what I've seen, the vast majority of Vectrex homebrew games are clones of golden age games (including most Fury releases). I, Cyborg is not. It really pushes the limits of what a Vectrex game could be, and approaches the scale of games on subsequent consoles. But it still does so with a deep love of the vector. The imagery, the pacing and the content in I, Cyborg are all amazing. ... my only criticism is that it is too difficult (for me at least), as I have yet to witness any of the bosses, after about a week of playing, stealing the keycodes off the internet and trying every level. The levels seem to be of fairly equal difficulty level, and not a progression from easy to hard.
If you haven't played the original GCE released Web Wars, this is the most essential Vectrex game in my opinion and you must get it. The overlay makes it much better. Dondzilla can (legally) make a cartridge of any of the old games for $15 btw. No overlay though.

One problem with Web Wars that we discovered during the Vector War Tournament back in October was that if you never collect the creature in level 1, and just continually stay at the slowest speed, shooting enemies and dodging the bird's shots, you can live forever. I got to 150k in like a hour before I gave up and called it broken.
I need to get I, Cyborg...gah I just got my tax returns, I'll snap one up in the next couple days!

Hi Gliptitude. So I'm not alone in finding I, Cyborg difficult? That makes me feel better. Care to share the access codes? But perhaps under the heading 'SPOILER ALERT' for those among us that can do it (or would rather do it), the proper way.

^A friend of mine has a code on her forums for a spoiler warning. Whenever she comes back (she doesn't have internet at home at the moment) I might see about asking about that I saw a post of his on atariage.com forums from 2007 where he claimed it was his best game to date. He's since said his best game is Royal 21 And maybe he's got a new favorite now! From what I've seen, the vast majority of Vectrex homebrew games are clones of golden age games (including most Fury releases). I, Cyborg is not. His first several games were original, now he's working on Cinematronics clones. Very good stuff either way though.

Hi Gliptitude. So I'm not alone in finding I, Cyborg difficult? That makes me feel better. Care to share the access codes? But perhaps under the heading 'SPOILER ALERT' for those among us that can do it (or would rather do it), the proper way. Yes. OMG. If it weren't for the codes I would be super frustrated with that game. The first level at least ought to be simple enough for average users to complete it after a few tries. It isn't. I don't have the link handy, but if you just search around "I, Cyborg codes" or "cheats" you will find it. I believe George Pelonis himself released them. I think i found the list on a general gaming site that compiles game cheats. If you have a re-released cart like I do (#250 - #300) then the first code is 1111111, second 2222222, third 3333333. Carts 1 - 250 each have unique codes I believe. If you stink at the game like i do you can at least see all of the beautiful levels by using the codes. It's a nice sequence from 'corridors' to 'trenches' to 'galleries' to 'sky bridge'. Pure vector poetry.
