Love seeing all these updates and keep the games evolution going! Great work as always! Greetings everyone! Thanks a lot for your kind and motivating words, especially as you wrote them despite the fact that I actually had not updated anything in a very long time now. So, here I am, and I readily admit defeat Due to the current Corona situation and due to the new online-teaching mode I found it just impossible to run the academy class as I would have loved to and as I did in the past years. The course itself actually ran quite well, and, given the circumstances, the students did an excellent job. However, with all my other teaching obligations and all the new organizational procedures (university, family life, child care, …) I did not manage to provide all the additional things on top of the course (constant updates of the project pages, organized beta testing, reports here in the forum, …). I would have loved to do so, but I simply failed, and I am sorry for this. As Mr. Spock would say: "The crew performed admirably! Anything else is to blame entirely on their captain." The past four weeks were packed with general exams and with grading papers. The students of the Vectrex classroom course now have two more weeks to work on theirs projects at home until the final versions are due. The results will probably not be as polished as in the past years, but as I already said, that is not their fault but mine. All the project pages will be updated with the final versions and the binaries will then be available. I will also try to report on the Academy Lab page on some other non-course-related Vectrex activities that were going on during the past month. Many Cheers, Peer

Thank you for this update, Peer! You might have not achieved as much as last years, but I'd call this rather another victory than a defeat: Despite the Covid-19 pandemie, you and the students have kept on going the academy and as you wrote the students succeeded in their programming projects. I consider the permanent updates of the Vectrex academy websites as an extra, and sure enough these updates are great for all the forum readers, here, but it was extra work for you which understandably was given up this year due to many important extra work due to Covid-19. So as written before I really think that this is a victory. And I'm sure that in not to far future you'll make up for updating the Vectrex academy 2020 webpages.
Here's an offer from my side to you and the students: If there are students interested in feedback they can register here in the Vectorgaming forum and ask for feedback. I would try to have an immediate look at the games and provide feedback by next day.
Again, thank you, Peer, for this update. I still look forward to seeing the binaries of the Vectrex Academy 2020 one day. But really no need to rush.

Well done with what you were able to produce so far and well done to the students as well.
I've been working the whole time from home and lots of annual tasks have been pushed back. This has caused lots of late nights and we're still way behind.
Keep up the good work!

Greetings everyone, the Vectrex Academy 2020 has officially come to an end. All students have handed in their projects, and, considering the very special circumstances we had to deal with this semester, I am really happy about the results and about what the students have achieved. I have updated the project pages. Binaries, overlays and manuals are available for download: Vectrex Academy 2020 Project GalleryIf necessary, please be sure to hit the reload button of your browser to see the latest versions of the pages. The students (and me) would love to know your thoughts about the games, and it would be great to read some feedback here on the forum. We are already aware of some minor bugs, but please report any issue you might find. We wish you all lots of fun playing the games Many Cheers, Peer

Thank you guys for all your kind words!
I will pass on the congratulations to the students, as they deserve them much more than I do. They had to work on their projects independently and alone at home to a much higher degree than the past classes. And they did not have the advantage (and the fun) of being able to work on a real Vectrex console. This was of course taken into account when it came to grading the projects, and I am indeed really satisfied with the results.
Cheers, Peer

… then I am looking forward to seeing the office-competition high scores!!! Btw, who of you remembers the infamous boss-keys that some of the 80s games were featuring?
Not referring to the end-of-level-bosses, but to the special key which one could hit while playing if suddenly your real-life-boss entered your office, and which would then halt the game and display some reasonable what-so-ever work screen instead.
Such a thing might be a reminiscent and fun addition to the emulators

^Ahhhh, that's on the tip of my tongue...anyone? And some games had a special mini-program to them, like Starflight, which brought you to a blank screen where you could type anything you wanted onto there like it was a word processor or something in DOS. I will pass on the congratulations to the students, as they deserve them much more than I do. And they did not have the advantage (and the fun) of being able to work on a real Vectrex console. Ah no! Well, possibly if this Coronavirus would ever end, if any students were still in school at the time they could be invited to drop back in on your class (as a note on the web page or something) to try their own games out via your Vectrex on a flashcart?

Ah no! Well, possibly if this Coronavirus would ever end, if any students were still in school at the time they could be invited to drop back in on your class (as a note on the web page or something) to try their own games out via your Vectrex on a flashcart? No worries, I have already given the students the expressed invitation to visit me in the lab to try out their games on the real console as soon as entrance to the facilities is permitted again. During this semester I did my best to test their implementations on my personal Vectrex at home, and I gave them feedback. The could also watch this on the video stream during the online lecture sessions. I know, it is not the same, but that was the best I could come up with.
Cheers, Peer

Well, it's still good that you did that though.
