... Thanks for the encouragement! I really didn't understand Star Trek before... but now I do. As with most games... you won't get it until you put the time in. After a break I'm sure I'll try again! That's also my experience: If you really, really play a game a lot you understand each single "corner" of it and can twickle out highscores that are really high - even that high that people may doubt that it can be true. Years ago I've played Color Clash every day for about four weeks. One evening I had a perfect game with a perfect score of 5000 or even 7000 points (don't remember well and the online highscore list of Revivalstudio no longer works). From then on I never played Color Clash again. Good luck in (re-)playing Star Trek! For high scores, this is the site I remember most: vectrex.co.uk/hiscore.htm
Regarding my other comment on Star Trek scoring, should this score at the top be 2nd place, 90 some points? ATM, if two players rank #1 in a game, the next rank won't be #2 but #3. It's a bit inconsistent because overall ranking works differently but I think it's fair and I like to keep it for now because it applies for all players. (I would need to twitch Excel even more to get this right and atm I'm lacking a bit of time.) Ah, ok I thought it might be something like that as well. I do see now other games have a similar pattern. This does create a big gap between 1st and the others, but it is at least consistent for all Max out games are really important it seems... you are either IN or your OUT! Gotta work on these

Highscore list has been updated - see initial post. Current top 5 ranking: 1. Chainsaw (600pts) 2. limitzer0 (591pts) 3. Vorkosigan (572pts) 4. playvectrex (570pts) 5. fmml (471pts)
Stefan ( Chainsaw ) took the lead, very closely followed by Nathan ( 8-Bit Waves ), Marc ( Vorkosigan ) and Brett ( playvectrex ). Roland ( fmml ) needs 130pts to the max score of 600. Score code: "AVA" (valid till Friday 3 a.m. EDT / 8a.m. CET/MEZ). Please note that the above score code will change in some hours. ___ rossross : Good to see more scores from your side. Perhaps we make our personal duel? ATM, you are 11th and I'm 13th, so I have to catch up. Peer : Great that you enjoy VW XI! Your Gyrostro* games are really cool and I guess after this Vector War it's time for a final release. And "Get the beer" is amongst the most played games which is also a good sign. With it's variety "Get the beer" is a really cool platformer and I'm glad that we chose it for VW XI! And the "Get the beer" players can even win two boxes of beer which is a cool combination - a bit like "Mr Boston" but fortunately "Get the beer isn't branded and contains no advertisement.

Big Blue: 8 Treasures. Pole Position: 77200 Solar Quest: 410300 No luck in Knighex and Galaxy Wars today, or still too less experience... Solar Quest: I play and play it again, because I want reach phase 6, but this time, it was "only" phase 5... About scoring / knowing games discussion: Often the games have a lot of details and thoughful score systems, for example in Star Trek / Star Ship, you get the more points for the enemy ships, the further away they are. (But I always have problems to hit them, if they are too far away when they appear.) But I think, here most people are knowing such things... By the way, I also played Big Blue for nearly an hour, before I saw / remembered, that you can dive faster with button 2... I also should read the manuals...

Agree that we have a nice selection of homebrew games. With Get the beer and Gyrostronomy there are two games I never played before. Gyrostronomy is just unreal! Definately going to keep playing it after the tourney. Gameplay for me still is kind of confusing but I am motivated to dive into it deeper. 😀 Totally looking forward for the final version and ready to buy a physical release in a heartbeat. In "Get the beer" I had issues with the buggy scoring at first. I know that Belgian beer is very good so I guess I have to try harder. Knight Ex is kind of new to me as I never gave it serious playtime. Nice selection as I am really starting to like it. GWSL is also a good choice as scoring high is quite challenging. Played Big Blue before, love the game but completed it for the first time during this tournament which is nice. I played USA Zombie before and finished it in coop mode with my brother. Still not my favourite game but the end animation is pretty awesome. Todays scores: Knight Ex: 26400 Get the beer: 1/3 Web Wars: 13 TdF: 1:11:04 Scramble: 82120

for example in Star Trek / Star Ship, you get the more points for the enemy ships, the further away they are. Also, they're worth more if you shoot them when they're banking, rather than when you hit them head on. I also should read the manuals... Heh, yeah, that can help! vectrex.fandom.com/wiki/Big_Blue#Gameplay

Highscore list has been updated - see initial post. Current top 5 ranking: 1. limitzer0 (600pts) 2. Chainsaw (600pts) 3. playvectrex (579pts) 4. Vorkosigan (562pts) 5. fmml (488pts)
Stefan ( Chainsaw ) and by Nathan ( 8-Bit Waves ) are both #1 with maximum score 600. They are very closely followed by Marc ( Vorkosigan ) and Brett ( playvectrex ). Roland ( fmml ) needs ~120 pts to the max score of 600. More and more maximum scores of individual games are reached which makes it more and more difficult to overtop each other. Level of highscores of many games are extremely high; Pole Position, Scramble, and Tour De France for example. New score code: "PEPPER" valid for one day till Saturday 3 a.m. EDT / 8a.m. CET/MEZ) (Old score code "AVA" is also still valid till Friday 5a.m. EDT / 10a.m. CET/MEZ.) ___ Chainsaw : Congrats on completing Big Blue! And "Wow!!!" - that's a high Solar Quest score! And thank you for the tipps - I didn't know both of them before. Interesting that the developer of Star Trek has programmed such details back in 1982, already. 8-Bit Waves : Congrats to your high KnightEx score and low Tour De France time! 0:55 seems much like the perfect bicycle ride to me. eyelyft71 : Good to see more score from your side. @munch: Good "Get the beer" score! Another 4 games to qualify. Perhaps Big Blue and Scramble next? fmml : Good to see more scores from your side! Thanks for the positive feedback on the various games. Those homebrew games really add a lot to the fun of the Vector War.

Wow, no new scores within the last 14 hours. Good for me, no need to update highscore list. So far the tournament was pretty exciting with quite a number of outstanding scores. Tomorrow will be the last day of Vector War XI. I cross my fingers that you (munch, Len, tatanga, and Darrin) manage to qualify.
