Final version of the game has been posted in the first post of this thread. Another huge thanks to you and everyone else for the play testing and the great suggestions along the way. Love the Vectrex community! Thank you for your kind words, Scott. Really great that there will be both a free binary and a physical of Cavern Rescue release available. First game for Vector War XIII is set: Cavern Rescue.

Great that got it all completed and sorry I couldn't do any more testing, last month has been a bit crazy for me.
I commend your release model, physical available as well as a free binary - cred for you!
I wish you lots of sales and that other devs decide it's a good model too.
Source code also or do we have to reverse engineer it ourselves? ;-)

Awesome! Forgive me if it's been announced, but, is there a date set to start Vector War? Really looking forward to it.
D-Type: I have the source all bundled up and stored on my G-Drive. I will release it soon - why not. I learned so much from other source code I found along the way. Wanna know the game that influenced (code-wise at least) Cavern Rescue the most? The original "Rockaroids" game by John Dondzilla. It was so long ago, but I found the source for Rockaroids somewhere.
That and, of course, massive help with optimizations from Malban. I also want to write up a post mortem (ie: a recap) of items I learned in writing tight and efficient code, many of which, called for alternatives to using the built-in rom bios routines. Again, those optimizations came from Malban. Very, very clever stuff. I will share those and I am sure they could apply to *anyone* writing a Vectrex game. I want to start a new thread about that. I'm sure many others have ideas to share as well. To me, the creative ways programmers come up with in order to save precious cycles in order to keep a stable 50Hz display is fascinating.

Vector War takes place in the week which includes the International Play Your Vectrex Day (IPYVD), which is 1st of November. Vector War XIII will be from 28th October till 4th November this year.

Congrats on your release, Scott! And big props for releasing the final binary and source <3 I will definitely buy a copy from Sean when it's released. It's a great game, and I can't wait to see the final form.

Congratulations! Just give it a try on emulation. I love the concept! It has a "cosmic chasm appeal" I have just seen some problems in the design on the main ship on emulation. I have tried with ParaJVE (Win XP) and OpenEmu (on mac OS) based on Vecx: same. I will try on the latest emulator by ralph kornmann tomorrow to see.

It's just a problem when played in emulators.

>First game for Vector War XIII is set: Cavern Rescue. Scott would you like to collaborate with me on donating a prize for the Vector War prize table? I'm thinking that your game in an metal cartridge with engraved label would be a suitable prize in Vector War. If you can arrange the game on a PCB and allow me to use the label art to make an engraved label, we can donate a worthy prize for the competition.

An aluminum cartridge of Cavern Rescue would be a great prize for Vector War XIII, Tony!
