Hi, updated scores:
- Clean Sweep - 50.140 (Game not finished, posibility of never ending game)
Not updated scores: - PolePosition - 77.250 - Polar Rescue - 46.850 - Thurst - 14.650 - Bedlam - 53.050 - EDIH - 7.435 - MarineFox - 35.240 - Release - 7.306 - Vectrexagon - 102:58
Link: mega.nz/folder/0x5iGIyD#COptU7AyWwlMc2XXWlJvyA
IMPORTANT: Clean sweep never ending game. Starting from Level 8, the enemies start doing predefined patterns that does not take the player into any consideration. So, from this level on, the game is not playable anymore. With time you may reach 99K points and "reset" the score. Calling the Judges for clarification about this game.

Correct, Clean Sweep has a known bug and can be marathoned. Therefore, a maximum score was introduced years ago. In previous Vector Wars the maximum score was 75.000. For Vector War 14 I've set it to 65.000. I tend to lower the maximum score for Clean Sweep even more to 50.000 but would like to hear other voices beforehand.

Hi, updated scores: - Clean Sweep - 50.140 (Game not finished, posibility of never ending game) ... Yeah, when I did my 41000 points in Clean Sweep, I also stopped because it was getting too boring after level 8. In the score table, you see, that there is a maximum score of 65000, but this would need a lot of time. It also takes forever, if you have to keep returning to the centre to empty yourself and eat new points. I don't know, what the best solution would be here, after we already stopped our games before reachting 65000. If Clean Sweep will return in any future Vector War, a maximum score of 40'000 would be adequate in my opinion. PS: Oh I see, Helmut / hcmffm already answered in the meantime. Don't know if it makes sense now to lower the maximum score, if it will be lowered to 50000, I'm not sure, if I will play Clean Sweep again, because also 50'000 needs a long time to reach. And if it will be lowered more, it maybe is not fair for the other players with high scores in the game. Difficult to say... Maybe keep it as it is for this year, and set a much lower maximum score in the future? About the "missing" players: Maybe one or the other will turn up :-) Hope nobody has forgotten or overlooked the Vector War.

Some of the scores being achieved are nothing short of astonishing. Well done. Just a couple of improvements for me this evening. Played Release way too much and didn't get anywhere. Pushing too hard for the star multipliers. Eyes are too tired. Unicorn Galaxy 13755 Clean Sweep 12210 drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Em7LApbBwVavNzUHceEeVzXwOmrtTCq5

Iam sure some others will join as the week progresses, as for clean sweep, yes it is good the score is restricted as it can become very monotonous on later stages once the pattern remains the same and I agree in future vectorwars the max should be dropped maybe more. There is a good mix of short medium and long games this year but one or two shorter ones might be suggested for future wars. I distinctly remember spending a very long on polar rescue last year with Brett. Some really nice release scores too!

Yeah Thrust is a "high concentration" game indeed. I see you are biting at my heels score wise there. Those doors in Thrust are real killers. I got surprising use for the knowledge about lifting heavy loads with overhead cranes and more specifically on how to counteract a swinging load.
Hehe, you've gotten some decent scores! Looks like we're ahead of the pack, neck and neck. I've just cleared 60k on Thrust, so you've got something to aim for tomorrow.
Once you get past... Stage 6? There's a reverse gravity level, which took me by surprise! Everything floats upwards, including the ball.
Otherwise just two small score updates:

For Marine Fox, I've got a strategy worked out. The items are very important. If you can get the invincibility item which looks like brackets [ ] on level 8, then you're very likely to beat it. There's a huge difficulty spike on level 8. I like to focus on the middle dots first and wait for an item to appear and hope it's either the invincibility or the shark slow down (fin icon). The items are: [ ] - Invincibility for about 10 seconds. Thank you for this! I couldn't work out what they were, apart from the fin, since it slowed the enemy sharks down, but your explaining about the invincibility allowed me to better my score. Much appreciated.
Have you mastered fast turning? Maybe you have, but if not: hold the joystick in a direction, along with the turning button for that direction, allows you to spin around super fast - which I found essential on the higher levels. It allows you to move out of the way of surprise sharks, or flip around 180 degrees to grab a missed item.
Sorry... I was one of those who suggested it. To make it easier, some tips:
1) Holding the accelerate and decelerate buttons together locks your engines at a specific speed, and a lower speed helps prevent the enemy subs following you or going into a frenzy. It's not 100%, but it's better than going full steam, where they def will hear you. Think of it as a stealth game like Goldeneye or Metal Gear Solid.
2) Pause the game often. If you go into battle mode do this, or if you're suspicious of a dot on the radar. During pause look at the dots - the solid lights are enemy subs, the dots flashing in and out are mines or ice.
3) Doing the above to work out which dot is an enemy, spin to face it, pausing if you need to reorient yourself, and don't be afraid to shoot blindly into the darkness if the radar shows the enemy directly in front.
4) Make sure the big arrow is always at the north, so you're heading for the rescue pod.
5) Sometimes the pod can be above or below you, so be aware of this. If the arrow suddenly flips to the bottom of the radar this means you overshot it.
6) When aiming the crosshair into the little box, it can help to lock the engines at the lowest possible speed or even just neutral, so you can get your bearings instead of bumping wildly into the pod.
7) Diving will almost always save you from hitting mines, but be careful not to hit the ocean floor. If you're in clear water it's worth rising slightly. Sadly there does not seem to be a depth meter.
8) Stealth is key, since it's better to avoid enemy subs than engage. Their points are lousy - you make the most points from rescuing the pod.
9) If an enemy sub seems to be following you, but hasn't engaged battle mode yet, this means it's suspicious. Resist the urge to max out the throttle, since this will probably alert it. Sometimes it's good to pause, make sure you know where it is, then unpause and turn to destroy it by surprise. I'm not sure, but I think they sometimes stop following if you just carry on slowly and silently (unsure about this - I usually turn for a quick stealth kill).
