Vectrex Tournament: Vector War XIV (26th Oct -2nd Nov 2024)

Hi all, happy to be attending again this year, vectorwars always means two things to me 1)I get to spend the week playing my vectrex guilt free and 2) I have a week away from work!! So it is always a good time, so glad to see those have submitted scores so far and looking forward for many more to come particulary from chainsaw and Brett! This year was a quiet year for me in vectrex land with other real life things taking priority and leaving the vectrex to one side but I am happy to be able to compete again this year.

The game selection as always is a great mix of old and new although I must admit I am happy to see soccer football has been excluded this year,looking at you peer ,although polar rescue makes a return every year there is one game that breaks my heart and soccer football was it last year

Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to pick up a copy of unicorn galaxy yet (or probably another few games i missed that were released in the past year)but am happy to see edih is included as it is one of my favourites and any excuse to play it is good for me. Also good choice to limit star castle score as I remember playing it for hours upon hours in a previous vector wars! Anyways here are my qualifying scores for this year, I wish everyone the best of luck and more importantly lots of fun..

Really? Oh man, that's a downer. I was about to program a much improved Soccer Football 2 version, exclusively for the next tournament. 100% identical to the original, but instead of those mere 2 x 3 minutes, now with a true 2 x 45 minutes runtime for each game! I am so sure you would love and enjoy it

Thank you for your support and watchful eye and thanks for the hint, Darryl. It's first day of the Vector War and there's the MCP which has full control of what's going on. So I consider FredriK's score to be valid.

Compared to last year, the highscore list has been slightly improved:
- "Scores" table: Top 1-3 scores per game are in highlighted
- English formatted numbers (decimal point and thousand comma)
- Nice "Vector War" heading

Please note that threshold score of Vectrexagon has been lowered to 25:00 seconds.

@ Peer : Great that you've joined VW 14. And you even have a competitor in your own family. I had to look twice at your Bedlam score to see that it's correct. Impressive! Your highscore page has a nice seasonal touch - I much like the wig.

@ FredriK: Welcome to your first Vector War! Nice that you've joined in. Looks like Star Castle is one of your favorite games - many players like Sketcz or me have problems even reaching 10.000 points and your score is almost 14k, already.

@ kiwasabi : Welcome to your first Vector War! Always great to see new players. Great scores in ACoL and Uniform Galaxy. In which country are you located?

@ John S. (Sketcz ): Great that you're in, again, John. I'm still baffled with the massive volume of your trilogy. Good luck playing and have fun in your second Vector War!

@ scotthuggins : Vectrex game developers are most welcome at the Vector War. Your start was a bit bumpy with imgBB and the tricky threshold score. But you did reach the threshold score of Clean Sweep.

@ Mark (Vorkosigan ): It's great that you play in another Vector War - your fourth Vector War. After being so active in the Vectrex HSC, I hardly expected anything else Viel Erfolg und ich drücke dir die Daumen, dass du es wieder unter die Top 3 schaffst.

My first scores of the tournament. My kids, Pika Pika (was Rampage Ralph) nearly stormed off because there's no Wet Cat, but then got hooked on Vectrexagon. Louis XIV (was Rampage Lizzie) was using the tournament as a way of avoiding bed time, but then found Rip-Off is actually quite fun.

Thankful to have this one out of the way, I remember my technique from the last vectorwars and if played for scores the game becomes boring fast so best to finish it first before focusing on other games

Like you appear to be doing, I tried playing Bedlam initially with my RadPad and after a couple of minutes my fingers muscles were on fire due to the strong button springs.   I had to swap over to my VicStik with it's soft Sanwa buttons!
