Player: Fruktodlaren Bedlam: 21675Clean Sweep: 21910Rip Off: 1960Star Castle: 7620Crush of Lucifer: 2420Every Day is Halloween: 12470Marine Fox: 26432Release: 9832Thrust: 21000Unicorn Galaxy: 6445Vectrexagon: 42:70Rip Off is a really hard game. The controls feels sluggish due to the slow turning speed and the rate of fire is not enough to deal with the faster enemies. If Rip Off was hard, then Star Castle is harder. The cannon always gets me. I ended up farming points by slowly slowly shooting shields and the flies (or whatever they are). That took time to get over the threshold score. I find Vectrexagon nearly impossible to get over the threshold score in. It's not my kind of game I guess. Practice makes perfect it is said. But I haven't practiced... Irrelevant info... I managed to accidentally break my Skynät prototype controller. It was a bit off in calibration. I figured it was due to the quick and dirty resistor I had made by bunching three of the wrong value to approximate the value I wanted but didn't have, at the time it was wired up way back then. Well... It both were and weren't culprit in this. But I managed to make it worse by botching some connections on the hacky prototype PCB that's in that controller. Tomorrow I will rip out everything from the shell and rewire everything from scratch. Why can't things just work when I need them to? Then again, I knew about that problem 6 months ago but bide my time instead of fixing it and here we are in the midst of Vector War in full swing and my procrastinating ways have finally caught up with me.

Thanks. I wouldn't miss Vector War, it's the most important days of gaming of the year for me. We can expect the return of Moyu, Len and Måns a little later. Len and Måns are super hyped about the return of Pole Position. I think we can expect some fierce competition from both of them in that game.
I think I can do much better in Thrust and Marine Fox than I did in these qualifying scores. Inertia based cave flyer games happens to be a genre of games I greatly enjoy.

Thank you for your support and watchful eye and thanks for the hint, Darryl. It's first day of the Vector War and there's the MCP which has full control of what's going on. So I consider FredriK's score to be valid. Might want to make that into a rule for next year's contest (OY! Planning already! ), saying that it's ok for a kid to be under adult supervision or something that can vouch for no code (although he did have all the other scores with the code attached). After all, these are cool people playing one of THE coolest, unique consoles ever made! I ended up farming points by slowly slowly shooting shields and the flies (or whatever they are). Killer space asterisk...thingies

Bedlam - 41,325This has got to be one of the very best of the original releases! Like you appear to be doing, I tried playing Bedlam initially with my RadPad and after a couple of minutes my fingers muscles were on fire due to the strong button springs. I had to swap over to my VicStik with it's soft Sanwa buttons! Really? I have been switching b/t the RadPad and the original Veccy controller...the original does what you are describing to my fingers and left thumb. Brutal. I really love the RadPad! Interesting you think that of the springy buttons... I love the feel of them. I also love the extended range of movement on the joystick that is required to move your man in many of the games.

"@ kiwasabi : Welcome to your first Vector War! Always great to see new players. Great scores in ACoL and Uniform Galaxy. In which country are you located?"
Thank you. For A Crush of Lucifer and Unicorn Galaxy I use an NES style control pad. I find the D-Pad / directional pad to be more responsive and makes me less likely to crash in ACOL. For my score I defeated Lucifer 3 times and shot a ton of the watch towers. I'm located in Denver Colorado USA. The tournament started at 1am my time and I'm a night owl so I went straight to work.
For Unicorn Galaxy, I find it's best to mostly shoot diagonally and to really focus on the swimming / diver type of enemies first. Shoot them diagonally at which ever direction they're coming from. Then take out the projectile / bomb enemies next.

don't..what would be the maximum goal score then? Maybe 250 to 0? Nah, that is already possible with the original. I will use 16-bit for storing the score, so we can play up to 65.535 : 0

He might have to redo that one, as I'm seeing no Sonic code there. Thank you for your support and watchful eye and thanks for the hint, Darryl. It's first day of the Vector War and there's the MCP which has full control of what's going on. So I consider FredriK's score to be valid. Thanks a lot for your trust, Helmut. But of course VectorX is right, the code should be in the picture. I am pretty sure Fredrik will play Rip Off again today and hand in an improved score.Bedlam is one of my all-time favorite Vectrex games. And using the 50Hz version for training makes the original 30Hz version seem a bit like slow-motion He was very excited about the tournament. In the past, he had only played Soccer Football (hello mozie ) and Mine Storm. So he was already familiar with the way of controlling the ship in Star Castle. He then found a surprisingly effective kid's way to collect points. I have to try that strategy myself today.
