I may be able to conjure up a suitable prize to be donated to the prize table despite me not having access to magical tools anymore. There is still time before everything is locked in before the competition starts. I expect to have something ready soonish.

I ordered Crush as well. I like the list a lot. Wish we would consider dropping Karl Quappe in favor of Release, but that's just me. If the consensus is Quappe is a better fit, it'll be a lot of fun playing that one as well.

What can be donated as prizes? I may have a digital prize to offer - I PM'd hcmffm though didn't hear back. Unsure if he's busy or if the suggestion didn't seem appropriate.
Also, where can one download these homebrew titles: Karl Quappe Pipe Race
I searched for Pipe Race all over, and all the links to the project page seem to be dead? (Someone mentioned that the author released an updated and improved version?)

Crush of Lucifer ordered! I've been wanting to get it for ages, since it's one of the "lost" original dev titles. Looking forward to it. Cool. Yesterday evening I've ordered Unicorn Galaxy. Let's see which game is delivered faster. What can be donated as prizes? I may have a digital prize to offer - I PM'd hcmffm though didn't hear back. Unsure if he's busy or if the suggestion didn't seem appropriate. Sorry for not replying. There are e-mails, Facebook messages, WhatsApp message, forum mails - sometimes it's just too many communication channels to keep track with. I'll send you a reply, soon. Also, where can one download these homebrew titles: Karl Quappe Pipe Race... Once the game list is fixed, I'll gather links for all free binaries and will post them in the original post. In addition, I'll provide a ZIP archive with binaries of all original games plus all free homebrew games.

... 2. Blitz! In past two Vector Wars we've played Heads Up! (Soccer). Not many people were enthusiastic about Heads Up! and same applied for Blitz! some years ago. So it seems like a good idea to have a pause from sport games with tactics in VW14. Hehe, I so much enjoyed the personal Heads Up! competition with mozie during VW14. I would have gladly continued our duel with Blitz! in this VW

WOW, that list looks great! Thank you, Helmut. You and Tony do a great job with this. (so glad Release made the cut this year!)
This looks to be the makings of the best VW yet. Hoping I get my order of Lucifer delivered to try and get used to the game.

I seem to remember that it previous VW, Soccer, Blitz and Polar Rescue, I was unable to work out how to play them and thus never did.
If someone could link to or make a how-to video, that would be great.

If someone could link to or make a how-to video, that would be great. Well, I do not want to spoil the fun for anyone, but for Soccer... ... there is a very simply and essential "trick" which is explicitly mentioned in the manual of the game (nobody ever reads manuals) and by which you can move across the field rather quickly. The only thing left to do is to figure out how to beat the goaly, i.e. how to make all his attempts to block the ball futile. That requires a different strategy for games 1,2 and 3, but there is one for each difficulty setting. Once you have figured that out, a goal can be scored pretty quickly from kick-off. And then it boils down to concentrating and repeating your strategy for 6 minutes.

As some people might know, there's a continuous Vectrex playing going on: The Vectrex High Score Club aka Vectrex HSC. This month (October), Vectrexagon is played. Sad news reached me very recently: The author of Vectrexagon, Andreas Gustafsson, passed away in May this year. As a tribute to Andreas, his excellent Vectrexagon will be played in Vector War XIV. Game list was full, already, and gameplay of Pipe Race is a bit like Vectrexagon, so I've decided that Pipe Race is out and won't be played this year. I'll consider Pipe Race for Vector War XV. I hope and I think that everyone understands and agrees with this step. Thank you for the most recent feedback for the game list. There were no new suggestions or aspects so the game list for Vector War XIV is now final.
OutPipe RaceInVectrexagon These games will be played in VW XIV:
Original games1. Bedlam 2. Clean Sweep 3. Rip Off 4. Polar Rescue 5. Pole Position 6. Star Castle Homebrew games1. Crush of Lucifer (Commercial game)* 2. Every Day Is Halloween 3. Marine Fox 4. Release 5. Thrust 6. Unicorn Galaxy (Commercial game)* 7. Vectrexagon *Game will be definitely played in VW14. Next steps for me: - Add links to games - Create ZIP archive with all free available binaries - Find out about prizes and announce them ( Sketcz and Ralf: I'll get back to you in 1-2 days) - Add threshold scores and maximum scores in game list

^Nice for you to do that with Vectrexagon. Its been years since it was played as it is.
I'll see what the maximum scoring for Thrust is, as I can beat that.

^Nice for you to do that with Vectrexagon. Its been years since it was played as it is. Good to read that you like the tribute idea. Paul ( thecurlybard) of Vectrex HSC and I came up with this idea independently. I'll see what the maximum scoring for Thrust is, as I can beat that. Thank you for your offer to help, Darryl. Maximum scores are for games that can be marathoned (e.g. Star Castle or Clean Sweep) because difficulty no longer increases and game play remains the same. Beating Thrust should result in a score like 99999 for example that you can never achieve via playing.

Just remembered I probably sent my score in to Ian's high score section of his Vectrex website and checked it out, as I was rusty as hell this afternoon, not even getting past level 6 But then with the second game I made it to the last level of reverse gravity with eight ships before quitting since it was time for a nap. I might still try it later once I'm done with my naps for the day to see how far I can get. Anyway, my high score is 172,000. Maybe it can be set for that or 180,000? Don't know if anyone will get that high since when the similar themed game of Gravitrex was played years ago I was the only one to beat it. Thank you for your offer to help, Darren. Darryl...we have a darrin here! Maybe even several, and not just the 9999 one!

Thank you for your trial to beat Thrust. Let's do it like this: If someone manages to beat Thrust, the score for beating the game will be set. And if it turns out that Set score is not high enough, it will be set to a higher value. ... Thank you for your offer to help, Darren. Darryl...we have a darrin here! Maybe even several, and not just the 9999 one! Don't write forum posts late at night. I just had breakfast with Alice and then I said to myself: "It's Darryl, not Darren.". Sure enough, Alice didn't understand and now I see that you've read my wrong salutation, already. Sorry for that, Darryl.
