Phew, this year I'm late with the announcment of Vector War. On week-ends, my family and I write down our todos and activities for the day. Announcing the Vector War was on my list. My daughter's only comment was: "Vector War is too often.". I wouldn't sign this - once a year is a good interval. And time of the year is perfect - cold weather and days of darkness - ideal for sitting in a warm room and enjoying the shiny vectors of your Vectrex. Last year, many keen players had participated and struggled to get a good rank. A week with a lot of Vectrex playing and highscores and good fun. Let's see what this year brings... Altogether 6 original games and 6 or 7 homebrew games will be played in this Vector War. Below please find my suggestions for Vector War XIV: Original gamesArmor Attack Bedlam Rip Off Star Castle Star Trek/Star Ship Tour de France Homebrew gamesThis year, Vectrex Academy didn't take place so there are little games that are released in 2024. Actually, atm, I couldn't even think of a single game but I'm sure there are some that were released in 2024. EDIT: There's Time Trail and Unicorn Galaxy, the latter suggested by Tony and others. And I'm sure there are even more. My suggestions: Unicorn Galaxy by Chris Malcolm Marine Fox by mountaingoat Moon Lander by Clay Cowgill/Chris Salomon/ ( Video) Thrust by Ville Krumlinde ( Video) Crush of Lucifer by GCE/Chris Malcolm Sea PupSpike's Circus by Alex Nicolson (vectorzoa) VeCaves Like every year, list of games is discussable. You may suggest additional games and/or raise your hand for specific games. Your comments and suggestions for the Vector War and game list are welcome.

There's some bad news and some good news about Vector War prizes: Not really news but bad is that I still haven't sent out T-Shirts of VW X to XIII to winners. And there are more prizes that are missing out: Wet Cat overlays and games of Packrat Video Games. I'm sorry for that and will try that all prizes are sent out till the end of this year. Great news is that Tony ( fruktodlaren) has prepared a wooden spoon prize for Vector War XIV despite all the odds in life he experienced during the past months. All other prizes still have to be determined.

My sympathies go out for those players with the desire to play Spike's Circus. It's a fun game. But with the loss of both sources for physical copies of this title, Alex Nicholson @vectorzoa and madtronix, it's going to be one of those titles not played much. Even with the advance notice.

Great that there is another Vector War this year. Looking forward! Regarding Spike's Circus I am not sure how the scoring would work in a tournament. Need to doublecheck but iirc you dont "die" in the game.

... This year, Vectrex Academy didn't take place so there are little games that are released in 2024. Yes, my apologies for that. This spring semester, it was finally my turn to be eligible for a research sabbatical. I seized the opportunity and took a (long-needed) break from active teaching. I still managed to proceed with some other Vectrex-related stuff.
So there are indeed no new Academy games this year. But there are still all the old ones from the previous years đŸ˜‰ And if everything goes according to plan, then Vectrex Academy 2025 will start next year in March!

Not had any comms other than PP receipt even though I've emailed each month since then for an update so I'm just assuming AWOL for the foreseeable future

In addition to Unicorn Galaxy, I'd say Sea Pup is a good candidate for tournament play due to the arcade style gameplay and scoring.
As for the other suggested homebrew, my heart is with Thrust, which is no short of a technical marvel in vectrex programming.
Marine Fox is also suitable for competetive play due to the scoring system and Moonlander is a true skill based game that will be a challenge for even the best players. (perhaps a rule clarification that states that VecFever or PiTrex versions of Lunar Lander Vector arcade game may not be used)

I've ordered a Madtronix 3D Imager in November 2022. And tried to add Spike's Circus afterwards. No response til today... Hope he gets well, so maybe one day I can finally experience 3D on a Vectrex.

What do you all think about Hera Primera for the contest?

What about "nearly" Vectrex Acedamy titles, like: Gyrostronomy / Gyrostrology
Downloadable - AND physically available now!
@peer: Is the scoring identical?

By the way, the games "are" Vectrex Academy. Have a look at the logo in the bottom right corner of the box

So you're somewhere behind me in the queue, as I ordered an Imager on Feb 2022 (with no response so far). Except probably there is no queue, as someone ordered a few months after me and received it a few months after that. No refund either, despite regular quarterly email requests ever since.

One more suggestion:
What do you think about Ben's Lightpen game "Nuka Bomb", that got published in the "Side Games" and the "Vectral" cartridge?
