Such a preposterous movie.

B.B. has a great cast. I must see it now. Better later than never.

I think a Clean Sweep 2 could be good. Have different mazes, items other than power-ups (hey, what's that arrow thing at the end of this row? Oh, it shoots you in the opposite direction really fast! Whups, right into one of the robbers; I'm dead!), "lights out" maze like with the original, etc.

I'm going to throw a new one out there. Star Fox. Its a though one but probably only as though as BattleZone, Red Baron or Polar Rescue.

Good idea! That's one of the many things that made Ms. Pac-Man for the Genesis so much fun was the two player simultaneous mode.

could a contra game be done for vectrex? i am talking about the arcade version. the vertical screen would fit it so well. a 2 player run 'n gun would be so much fun even if the vectors are small. i imagine the same frenetic action and pace of mine storm but in contra instead. you could even put a full stage on the screen at once just on different levels.
how about reviving dark tower? open-course/free walking games are always fun. dark tower never did make it to the end and it's the closest we have to an RPG.

could a contra game be done for vectrex? Anything possible, especially if it could of been done on an 8bit machine with bitmaps and contra isn't that complicated. I'd quite like to see something like "Risk of Rain"

This is a great thread. As someone mentioned, surely a version of Elite could be done. One of my very favourite games. If that can be produced on an Acorn Electron (32k) then the Vectrex should walk it. Also a fave of mine was Chuckie Egg. Simple but supremely playable. It doesn't have to look the same but so long as it played the same, man I would have that in a shot! How about an R-Type style shooter, only needs to have Scramble style graphics but it would be awesome to have that kind of scrolling shmup on a Vectrex. Given the very very good conversion of Time Pilot (Vector Pilot) surely a version of Sinistar could be done too. Wish I was a programmer/engineer, I would be on this so much. ha ha ha

Talking about little planes and thinking about vertical shooters, I could love a 1942 Capcom arcade port Commando would deserve a vectrex corner, too; and still around Capcom, why not a Ghosts´n´Goblins? And like gliptitude said in other thread, the classic Web Wars could be enhanced in the "catch the bug" issue, at advanced levels.

The main issue is getting the 3d engine up and running with clipping. Another issue is that you must remember is the vectrex has a lack of ram - but plenty of rom... I really don't know how much of an issue it would be, I think it would still be possible. Nobody has really demonstrated a generic 3d engine as far as I can remember (as in an engine that could be re-used for any game) I'd encourage you to give programming the vectrex a go, asm programming on the 6809 is quite easy compared to other processors (its a good beginner cpu). Its just very long winded compared to writing in more modern languages. A side on shooter like R-Type would be quite easy.

On-board RAM can take care of that problem perhaps. But yes, processing clipping on the vectors would be a task, so the objects truly look 3D.

Nobody has really demonstrated a generic 3d engine as far as I can remember (as in an engine that could be re-used for any game) Dan Siewers (aka kokovec) has done some work on one: Dan Diewers wiki pageI assume that could be used for games, but not being a tech person I'm not sure (he's usually on here several times a week, so maybe he'll pop in and answer that).

Kokovecs requires hardware? I think its possible without hardware...of course its possible, but the framerate is in question.

Jims battlezone is a software 3d engine with clipping, the frame rate is quite low but fine for a game like battlezone that doesnt move too quickly.
