If there is no game for a dual stick controller, someone will code a game.

Gary's Retrowars uses buttons for firing in different direction, so it'd just be a joystick hooked up to the buttons. If anyone ever designed a game for the Vectrex which required dual analog sticks, I'd look into it but I think using the PSX SCPH-1110 would be a better option.
There are plenty of games that COULD use them but no one seems to ever have exotic controllers in mind when designing their games. I think the use of the Imager or Driving Controller is as crazy as anyone has ever actually brought to the market.

Nobody uses single analog, dual is certainly overkill. But any game that uses joystick movement and multi-directional shooting could use dual sticks (Berzerk, Spectre, Protector, Vector Pilot) but it does change the game dynamic considerably - Being able to kite enemies is pretty big.

Thanks, hadn't seen that - will fire it up tonight. Looks like about a year since last update?

Just ran across this tonight, which I thought I'd just do a link to rather than explaining much of it: Platformer/explorer idea of some sort (I don't really have a certain game idea, it's just a blog) A 2D platformer/explorer game is pretty sorely lacking for the Vectrex, although I might've mentioned the old Aztec for Apple II computers on here quite a while back in this thread.

^_ i'd like to see that, just for the sake of seeing something new and different. But the NES and subsequent consoles seem to have been uniquely engineered for side scrolling. .. Maybe the scrolling could be indicated in some super minimalist way and still look cool on Vectrex?
On Vectrex I like to see the 3D perspective view adventure games, which look pretty good on the console but have really only barely been attempted. I guess Dark Tower is the only one that really involves exploring.

I think top-down is probably the way to go on a game like that. Something similar to Zelda 1/2 or A Link to the Past.

Maybe the scrolling could be indicated in some super minimalist way and still look cool on Vectrex? Corners would have to be cut and things could still work out, like with the "filled" areas of Vix still working just by leaving that part out. On Vectrex I like to see the 3D perspective view adventure games, which look pretty good on the console but have really only barely been attempted. I guess Dark Tower is the only one that really involves exploring. Yeah, another one or more of those type games wouldn't hurt.

As I made a "scary games" thread elsewhere, there aren't any creepy or scary games out for the Vectrex Whoa. Bit of a hole there.

I would REALLY love to see a Vectrex version of Sega´s "Tac/Scan".

^- I'm pretty sure Tac/Scan was mentioned already, but i agree it would be awesome.
.. Unless the arcade plays way different than the emulated version I play on PS2, i would actually like to see a modified version of the game on vectrex, rather than "arcade perfect". .. The concept of the game is awesome, but as cool as the tunnel scenes look, i don't really feel like i have much control of the ship, can't really dodge or aim effectively, and mostly just pushing buttons randomly.

I placed Tac Scan as number 2 on my "Most Requested Vectrex Ports" article. If I were to take a vote, I'm sure Tac Scan would be either number 1 or number 2.
