Nice thought!! And it would have a theme, too!
I liked Destroyer too...not much of that game going around, just a clone of it on the Atari 2600 Canyon Bomber cartridge, and that was about it, to the best of my knowledge.

As I'm finally readying a very long-delayed Vectrex wiki page for Dan Siewers, his unfinished Atari 2600 Laser Blast demo made me think of what could be added to that game: a new/different kind of ground target? Buildings to blow up (yay!)? A base to destroy? SOMETHING could be added to the game...can't think of much right now.

Awesome topic. I agree with the various posters who said that more adventure games are needed. Maybe you could just say ANOTHER one is needed, as there is barely one. (correct me if i'm wrong)
I've only recently discovered the existence of "adventure" games for "2nd generation consoles", such as the original "Adventure", which is a very intriguing prospect to me. I don't know about full fledged RPG's (never really known what the difference is), but something with a cohesive environment to explore, various weapons and objectives and enemies and an inventory of items. Atari 2600 Secret Quest looks impressive to me, but not quite playable. With the Swordquest series, not really playable for me either, I'm intrigued by the aspect of relating the game to the printed material that comes with it in order to figure out puzzles. A game that involved multiple cartridges, simple (?) passwords to advance between them, and extra-video interaction (writing stuff down, referring to written material), would excite me greatly.

Thanks It's nice to dream, eh? Maybe you could just say ANOTHER one is needed, as there is barely one. (correct me if i'm wrong) No, you're right. And although not a full-fledged adventure-type game, I think I, Cyborg somewhat qualifies there. I don't know about full fledged RPG's (never really known what the difference is), Well, part of the title is "role playing", which you take on roles of several characters per game...think that's it in a nutshell. Plus, as Adventure has role-playing aspects, but it's only one character, and a lot of RPGs are turn-based (like 2600 Dragonstomper), which Adventure isn't. With the Swordquest series, not really playable for me either, They're damn hard and frustrating!

I'd love to see a Tron: Deadly Discs clone. Tron and vectors seem to go together well. How is John's Disc Duel Demo? Is there a video of it posted anywhere?
To go along with the 80's theme, how about a game based on The Last Starfighter?

Don't know of a video, but it can be fun for a few minutes, all you can do is shoot each other with no sound and the shield function wasn't implemented. When I introduced the nephew to the Vectrex for the very first time, for some reason that was the game on the entire cart he played for the longest

I'm settled on the desire for more adventure games, as discussed earlier in the thread. But I also think it'd be cool if some of the original games got significantly remade. (Give them the Protector treatment that Defender got). Imagine if Berzerk moved faster and actually had a point to it? Imagine if the boss battle on Fortress of Narzod was not stupid looking and flat, but rather re-designed to look better (like the rest of the game), or imagine multiple boss battles in sequence. Imagine Spinball if the physics were worked out better and if the table laid at an angle (like Narzod), rather than completely upright (flat). Cosmic Chasm is an awesome game, but I'd like to see it with more variety in the maps and with an actual icon to represent the player on the map screen... Many many games too would benefit from a button customizing feature, especially with people using various controllers now.

Does anyone know what Berzerk II was supposed to be? Maybe that was a bit of a tweaking of the original?

Another good game in need of a tweak would be a sequel (or a severe hacking) of Clean Sweep (only one Pac-Man-like game on the system?!). Maybe the vault could be moved around/it could have different mazes, for starters (put it in a corner, for instance). Maybe different goals too, and not necessarily in regards to emptying your vacuum.
Can't really think of other things right now, but it definitely needs an improvement or two.

Every time I watch "Wargames" I wish there was Vectrex version of Global Thermonuclear War. It just fits.
It's easy to want to see all the vector arcade games on the Vectrex (and Fury seems to be plugging away nicely there) but I would love to see some under-appreciated arcade games made like Bosconian or Solar Fox.
Something else that is very lacking for the Vectrex, and not strictly a game, but I'd love to see other *controllers* made for the Vectrex (and homebrew support for them). No trackball? No paddle or spinner? I know you can hack in an Atari Driving Controller or Paddle but I'm thinking more a complete controller that can be purchased. It would open the door for a Vectrex version of Centipede or Warlords or Tempest.

Every time I watch "Wargames" I wish there was Vectrex version of Global Thermonuclear War. It just fits. Yeah, if Missile Command clones can be done that don't even look real different than the originals (since you're just talking streaks for missiles), then why not? I would love to see some under-appreciated arcade games made like Bosconian or Solar Fox. Someone would really have to know what they're doing to do something like those two, due to too many objects on the screen slowing things down. But K. Tuts proved that with Vector Pilot, without much slowdown (so I've heard, since I don't have the game yet), and he even had clouds in the background and all. Interesting choices too, as Bosconian didn't have any ports from back then (it's shown up on quite a few Namco compilations in modern times though). Yeah, all that's been done individually, but not *altogether*.

Well THAT was suddenly a quick surprise! Plus I wondered what happened to Hellhole as well.
EDIT: oh, Hellhole's Sector-X 4 now. Is this and 3-D Hellhole two totally different games then, or is the current Sector-X 4 a modified version of the original 3-D Hellhole? Because that was supposed to be a 3D Imager game originally.
