First off, the new one looks different: the sides weren't shaved off and there's now a plastic piece where you plug it into a console. That wasn't there on my first cord. Makes me wonder if they incorporated that into it just recently or something. This one I can plug in without having to shave it, but it's not a real firm fit; when adjusting the volume on my Vectrex, I usually have to hold the plug in; it could pop out if I brush against it too much. Hmm, any chance to send a photo of the connector?, I would like to see how they acheived it.

Yeah, sure. I'll see about doing that later. I have to take back what I said about the added voice to S. Frenzy not doing much to the game, as I like it a lot better now Glad to "hear" it! Heh!

I take back what I said about the plug, as it was obviously shaved after all (I just didn't give it a real close look), but the shaved part was replaced by the plastic piece. Attachments:

The cable is by Innovation. The way they make the cable it has this white plastic piece wrapped in black plastic. Once you trim it down to fit in the Vectrex you expose that white piece. There are many examples of genesis extension cables and this is the first one that I've seen that does this. Honestly, if you want to get the Atari box for a little cheaper, just buy and trim your own cable and just make sure that its not a Innovation. These ones from videogamesource on ebay are almost as expensive and you get two for doing your own light pen, 2600 paddle, arcade joystick, or whatever. www.ebay.com/itm/160846741161?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Try switching the settings. It says on the box/web site it's for the VecVoice. It's actually the VecVox setting you use it for. Same thing happened to me, so now the "random sounds" all make sense

Yeah I think I had it on VecVox, VecVoice made no sounds at all.
