I bought the chip and parts to build a vecvoice before the vecvox happened and when it was released never got around to building the vecvoice and I guess, was a little pissed with a new iteration so quick and never bought one, this still available somewhere or the plans/code for it at least?

never heard of this AtariVox, too bad they didn't allow you to ask for which sticker you want on the case

It's also compatible with the Atari 7800 and I think the 8-bit Atari computer line too.

I'd expect it'd be usable by anything with a DB9 port with the right driver code.

Would be great if someone posted here once the AtariVox is available, again.
(I'm also be very interested in a AtariVox. Debris Revisited and VHockey support VecVox, I'd love to hear that.)

I'll be keeping an eye out too, hopefully more can be made this year! That speech synth sounds really cool.
However, I am a tad perplexed by its extra functionality; in the description on Richards site it states:
"Also on-board, is 32K of non-volatile memory (EEPROM) for high score saves, configuration settings etc"
^Does anybody know if this is relevant for the Vectrex? And if so, would it just be meant for games like Thrust and Protector/YASI that utilize backup memory? Or would it work with games lacking said functionality?

I'll be keeping an eye out too, ... Cool, makes two eyes, altogether. ;-) Does anybody know if this is relevant for the Vectrex? I think this EEPROM is not relevant for Vectrex games: The VecVox/AtariVox will only play sound if the developer has added extra code for the VecVox/AtariVox. FAIK, Vectrex developer programmed for the VecVox, which does not provide EEPROM. And if so, would it just be meant for games like Thrust and Protector/YASI that utilize backup memory? From the technical and developers perspective, the EEPROM on modules and the EEPROM of the AtariVox are two different animals. The extra memory of the AtariVox is unknown/invisible for games unless the game developer has explicitely implemented code to control the AtariVox interface and read/write to the Atari Vox. As written above, my guess is that most programmers developed for the VecVox (not the AtariVox), so I doubt that any game has extra save features that use the EEPROM when a AtariVox is attached.
