I'll keep an eye out for the AtariVox+. Once they are available, I'll post here. OY! Are they finally nearing completion now?! Guy's YouTube pageHe has several videos in regards to soldering the AtariVox+, final tests and all. So maybe this is finally it (I haven't watched any of them yet for a clue).

These should finally be available within weeks, since I finally got off my duff and mailed them to someone who has the passion and dedication to do the final fulfillment, which I didn't. I have made 190 available, which should be more than enough for Atari owners, Vec owners, or joint-Atari/Vec households (since it is switchable).

The "SaveKey" aspect of the AtariVox was something that was invented after the VecVox. I can't remember whether I asked Richard if future Vec games could write to the SaveKey or not. The wiring of the DB9 is different on the Vectrex vs. the VecVox and some lines on the Vec may preclude writing to the SaveKey. Of course, since carts are read/write on the Vec, it's possible to implement high score saves on cart rather than on a device like this.

From what I've read, production should not be an issue so everyone who wants one of these should be able to get one.

Just saw this post over on AA from the.golden.ax: Just as an update, I'm in this with both feet now. Thus far I've spent hundreds of dollars on boxes and decals. The shells have all been removed to sort out what was what on the inside, and a good number of units have been tested. I am keeping a list of those who have expressed an interest within this thread. Those individuals should be expecting a PM soon. If you are interested in having a Vox and have not done so already, please feel free to request one here.
Thank You
Looks like this is the time to let him know if you want one of these.

OK all, time to confirm your interest. Here is a message that was sent out by the.golden.ax: AtariVox+ will be available soon. (Estimated 2 - 4 weeks from today.)
This mass PM is being sent because you expressed interest in this some point. (A reply to this message is needed to ensure your item(s) are set aside for you) THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR MONEY - JUST CONTINUED INTEREST.
This first run will be limited to approximately 50 units. The basic AtariVox+ includes a clear box/cover, instruction sheet, and Vox+ in black shell with label. (With more options below - keep reading)
Features: Phonetic speech, preset sounds, five channel music synth, and memory. The 32K memory stores game saves and high scores for titles that support the feature. Compatibility with both Atari and Vectrex game consoles via dip switch settings.
Note: The AtariVox+ installs directly in to the 2600, but requires a extension cable for use with the 7800, and a MODIFIED cable for use with the Vectrx.
Once these units are ready to ship immediately, I would like to be able to send paypal invoices out to people based on their desired order at that time.
Below are a list of prices and options. Please reply back in the next two weeks and provide me with your desired order, EMAIL, and SHIPPING ADDRESS for invoicing. Again, I will not be sending out invoices until the products are ready to ship instantly.
--
Prices & Options:
AtariVox+ $29.95 each
Extension Cable (Needed for 7800 use) $4 each Modified Extension Cable (Needed for Vectrex) $8 each (Note Extension Cables are limited quantity and are only availalbe 1:1 per Vox+ order) The prices factor the increased shipping cost / time to modify the cable.
Non-amplified PAIR of 3" PC Speakers (sorry no Canada or International sales for this) $10 (Note speakers are limited quantity and are only available one set, per order)
Domestic USA/Canadian Shipping: $6.05 for one AtariVox+
$12.10 for two OR MORE AtariVox+
$16.50 for any number of AtariVox+ if Speakers are included (USA ONLY... sorry)
International Shipping Worldwide: $12.10 for one AtariVox+
$ask. for more than one I need to calculate cost.
--
It is VERY important if you want to purchase this time around, that you reply providing a list of items you want, along with your email & shipping address! That way I can invoice you when the items are ready to ship. You can write me back here or at thegoldenax@gmail.com to let me know what items you would like to purchase, and to provide me with your email, and mailing address for invoicing.
If you know someone that is not on Atari Age that would like to buy a Vox+ on this run or a future run, please feel free to give them my email address and I will be happy to communicate with them directly. Vectrex guys I'm looking at you
Thank you, thegoldenax@gmail.comIf you're not on AA, you can email him.

Anyone still interested in getting one of these, needs to send a message to the.golden.ax before 4/15. He's closing the reservations after that day and then we don't know when these will become available again.

I've tuned in late to this topic, as speech synthesis for a small number of games was not at the top of my list. But after seeing the prices and that this might be the last chance to get this, I hopped on. Received paypal invoice today, and already submitted payment. One of the things that caught my interest is that the device provides a headphone jack, (and requires it for use). When the AtariVox+ is in use, do ALL sounds go through the headphone jack? So could this device be used as an AUDIO-OUT for the Vectrex, with any Vectrex game? ... If so it would be a nice and neat and modular solution to some common Vectrex aspirations, (like a full arcade set-up).
