I just got Castelian for NES today, and I more than ever think it would be a great Vectrex game. What I was able to determine today, with certainty, is that the player sprite is located in the same spot on the screen AT ALL TIMES, (Like Time Pilot). So on Vectrex, you could have an overlay that made the player a different color than the tower. ... Also, I had thought that the three dimensional aspect of the rotating tower had relied on some color shading around the edges, but it doesn't, (at least not on NES). It is just a grid, with no shading and no curves, just that the lines get closer together near the edges.
What I like about the game is that the whole thing is kind of based on a single compelling (and moving) image, (like Web Wars), that that image is naturally geometric, (like Web Wars) and that image could be conveniently (and attractively) rendered in vectors.
So the Vectrex game would have a recognizable and substantial kind of sculptural quality, defined by one essential 3-D shape.
Also if Nebulus/Castelian/Tower Toppler were done on the Vectrex, I'm pretty sure the Vectrex version would be THE COOLEST LOOKING version of the game.
***EDIT: Well, having now finally beaten the first level I see that actually there is side scrolling intermission in between levels, and the player sprite is NOT stationary on the screen during these areas. ... I think this part of the game should be eliminated from the Vectrex version though.

Mmmm! Nebulus is a fav of mine and what i like about it the most is the detail in the brickwork of the tower as it revolves and that applies to any version i have seen including the Gameboy and Sinclair titles,i am not sure if this detail would be lost with vector,I guess with Marble Madness you could just strip the game of solid colour as it is isometric anyway. For my third option i am thinking off list for something that used scaling or quick moving perhaps Afterburner.

As Qix is in the poll/the clone of VIX was mentioned, whenever you drew a block, that section of the screen would just become solid, which still worked on the Vectrex. So it seems to me M. Madness would work in a similar fashion too.

I wonder if the guy working on the Robotron clone ever got very far with it...

Ah man I got really exited when I read this but I guess I misunderstood you. I've never tried Vix and I just looked for it and tried it out, thinking that somehow the boxes would fill up with color (or uh whiteness I guess). ... If this were possible it would seem to make a much better QBert port possible. ... Which reminds we, I've never really seen any bitmap graphics on my Vectrex. Any one know of a free legal ROM that I could see this with? I know there is Debris available on cartridge, but I've given up on attaining that, as my emails seem to be ignored. I wonder if bitmap could coexist with vectors to produce any kind of shading on Vectrex?
