I'm not sure 250 got run on Cube Quest. It's hard to tell, and I never got a definitive figure out of Sean. What I CAN say for certain is that nowhere near 250 got sold, as I was able to secure a few extra copies direct from Sean in person for people who hadn't got it about five years back. He had all the materials, just not in constructed form (so flat, unfolded boxes, cart shell, unsoldered boards and burned chips).
And the run for Pitcher's Duel was actually 200 - 100 CIB copies and 100 loose cartridges.

Unfortunately, we'll never be sure on so many releases. I have done a lot of reading about release numbers and that's just what was said in some post or was said in some message group. That's why I asked John about his figures recently, but he stated that the pen and paper records had been lost. I do know that so many had been sold at the Expo, and sales were continued on his website for a while. What was not particularly sought after in it's time is now highly sought after and there doesn't seem to be as many to go around as the demand. 83ish copies of VeCaves/Spike's Spree and not even a handful have turned up in the years. 50 Hexed copies and it seems that if you didn't get your copy when they were sold by George that you may never get a copy.

Well, that's a load. George should do more copies at some point later (like he did with Cyborg), since it just appeared out of nowhere and sold out quickly. Not really fair to those of us that didn't have the money at the time

Let's get a regular boxed edition going. Overlay, manual, box, art, sleeve, the works! Let see if we can add in something special as well. Avaiator's timepiece or glasses. Perhaps engraved with the Vectrex and Mail Plane logos. I would like to replicate the box construction that www.revival-studios.com made for some of his releases. Nice little cart pouch inside. I still have one of is unfolded/unglued boxes as a template. But I would want to get permission to use it as such. Maybe modified for any extras added.

I think I saw them for sale on ebay for a month and a half. I had bought Sundance from him and was on his mailing list. One day he sent out a email that he was capping Hexed at 50, he was selling 43 on ebay, I believe, and I bought one that night which turned out to be number 49.
I see no other way to package an original GCE Vectrex prototype game than the way the other games were released though I think a clear plastic with grid or exact reproduction only in plastic packaging would be very interesting.

Congrats, Chris, to your win of the auction! A public release of Mail Plane after more than 30 years is in sight - that's great!

Was that for well under $1000 U. S. that it ended in?

Wild turn of events, from my point of view, all the way up until an hour before closing time. There was a bit of cooperation that resulted in the auction ending this way.
It looks like it has worked out in a pretty ideal fashion.

And now I am wondering what benzjr's other two Vectrex prototypes are.
