(and the V-Frogger overlay, maybe) I really like that overlay. Yes, I was gladly surprised, and it really makes a difference. (I think V-Frogger is a great port, technically good) I'm patiently looking for some games I'd like to have, like WebWars(p) A curiosity in Granada, my little city: There is a guy dropping several vectrex related stuff in a local CashConverter.. I often do a ride in there, intrigued for news. It´s not my habit, but I bought a pack of three only-cassette games: WebWarp + Bedlam + Starhawk, by less of 30€. I know you could like the full-boxed complete WebWarp; but you see, there are good offers, sometimes

^Yeah I figured you meant the Kelly one. Would've been cool if Shaker had done a multicart. I really like that overlay. Yes, I was gladly surprised, and it really makes a difference. (I think V-Frogger is a great port, technically good) Yeah, I give V-Frogger an 8 out of 10 ranking, plus the game could be just downloaded for free too, if a person wanted. Yet it was cheap enough when Shaker and Dondzila offered it (well, here in the States, as overseas mail costs more).

I used to be a collector of both Vectrex and many other systems. I had more stuff that I could possibly play in a lifetime and even considered opening a local gaming and computing museum so others could share the experience.
A few years ago I had some medical bills and a ghastly amount wasn't covered by insurance. Liquidating my collection covered most of the expenses, at least lowering the bills to the point that monthly payments were affordable and possible.
There were systems that we missed and emulation wasn't good enough. The first and most important was the Vectrex.
However, getting rid of all those old systems improved our life and definitely made our house more useable. A room once dedicated to storage had become an exercise and physical therapy room, now indefinitely necessary. I no longer want to collect, I just want to play.
A few working Vectri, VecMulti, 72-in-1 Multicart, extra working controllers for multiplayers, Madtronix 3D imager, and AtariVox+ currently meet our needs. I sometimes miss having all of the boxed physical copies of things, but I can live vicariously through seeing photos of awesome collections online. I also consider myself fortunate that I have had the opportunity to own and enjoy so much stuff even if I no longer have most of it and have no plans to get it again.
I would love to buy more homebrews digitally to use on the VecMulti.

As history might relate I am both a good collector, and a poor collector.

Well I didn't vote yet because I don't think I totally fit in one category. I'd probably most accurately fit in the second category but that would discount a LOT of what I have accumulated, considering I have at least one copy of every non-3D GCE game and multiple copies of almost all of them. Only about half the boxes and only a few of those in top condition, but ALL the overlays and manuals, most in duplicate, as many as four of some games, 7 Vectrexes (couple broken), a couple additional control panels, most of the homebrew games and hardware that I want, (but not alll that I want and certainly not all that exists). .. My real aim has always been an iinteresting and dynamic collection, rather than complete. .. Does stuff that I built count? If not I have quite a few boxed games, 2 Vectrex units, a few controllers, a Mark Shaker multicart (the original) and some nicknacks. I have a Vectrex coffee mug as well but it's not really a collectible. I'd CERTAINLY count stuff that you've built! (Heh especially in your case considering that some stuff that you have built is accounted for by other people in their "collections") .. And for me "stuff that I've built" (or "made") is certainly what I want to call part of my own unique "collection". I used to be a collector of both Vectrex and many other systems. I had more stuff that I could possibly play in a lifetime and even considered opening a local gaming and computing museum so others could share the experience. ... A few years ago I had some medical bills and a ghastly amount wasn't covered by insurance. A room once dedicated to storage had become an exercise and physical therapy room, now indefinitely necessary. I no longer want to collect, I just want to play. I can identify with a lot of this and I too plan to liquidate at some point in the future, hopefully in less stressful circumstances than you were in. But basically a PLAYABLE collection is important to me. It should be useful and may also be impressive .. But not to the point of being a burden to own.

I'm not a Vectrex collector, but if I ever do acquire one, I see myself sitting in the second-to-last category. Whenever I get a new console, I usually consult the Internet (and forums like this one) to see which games are thought to be the best. If I do buy a Vectrex, I'd likely want to purchase one in good cosmetic condition with a working controller--hopefully, one without any flaws--but I wouldn't bother with multicarts or accessories like the Light Pen or 3D Imager. I'd want to own some original Vectrex games, and I'd probably consult the forum for your opinions on various games. I don't need a totally complete collection for any console, and for cartridge-based systems like the Vectrex or NES, I don't even require the game boxes or manuals. (I might want the overlays.) As long as I think I have a good sampling of what the system has to offer, I'm content! That's where I would sit in your poll, though I can't actually vote.

I'm with you; the gameplay is what it's really about. But Ryan, you have 363 posts here and don't own a Vectrex yet? Get with it already; it's inevitable. When you do, my recommendations, (u already know:) Protector, Solar Quest, Vector Pilot. Skip Berzerk and Pole position - they're both better on other systems.

I'm with you; the gameplay is what it's really about. Yep. Even though Chase the Chuckwagon is a very desirable game for the Atari 2600 just out of value (you could probably get hundreds for it on a good ebay auction if you're lucky and/or it's in good shape), if I'm not going to play it then I'm probably not going to keep it, so I'd probably sell it if I ever got my hands on one (since the game sucks). But then I don't really like Berzerk on the Vectrex (as you'd later also warn about), yet I'm keeping my copy, for some reason (hence why I said I'd "probably" sell Chuckwagon if I ever got a copy of it). But Ryan, you have 363 posts here and don't own a Vectrex yet? Get with it already; it's inevitable. He's come a long way in regards to the Vectrex, actually. Because we go back like 10 years on another forum and, at first when I was trying to tell him of the good stuff that was available for it, he said he didn't give a crap about several of those games that you could get, like Q*Bert (i. e. the Spike Hoppin' clone). So he deserves a break in that regard When you do, my recommendations, (u already know:) Protector Hopefully that'll be back up for sale at some point. We'll just have to wait and see how it goes with Packrat getting Dondzila's stuff back up in regards to physical releases (and the other stuff he didn't make originally, but sold, like Protector). But then he could still download the ROM off of Alex's site (and others, probably) and play it on a flashcart though, at least. Skip Berzerk and Pole position - they're both better on other systems. P. Position's worth a crapload though!

So he deserves a break in that regard I hadn't heard of the Vectrex until I met you. Back then, I wasn't a very adventurous gamer; I still liked my old consoles, but I wasn't willing to venture outside of my comfort zone. Since then, I've acquired several consoles that I didn't own as a youngster (like the Sega Genesis) so maybe a Vectrex is in the cards for me one day.
