...wasn't willing to venture outside of my comfort zone. Since then, I've acquired several consoles that I didn't own as a youngster (like the Sega Genesis) so maybe a Vectrex is in the cards for me one day. I just upped your "VecRep." The good news is, most Vectrex games are more fun on a real vectrex than they look on youtube. I always thought the Vectrex looked cheesy and 2nd rate. Until I played one in real life. Then I had to have one. That was way back in 2013.

Yep. Even though Chase the Chuckwagon is a very desirable game for the Atari 2600 just out of value (you could probably get hundreds for it on a good ebay auction if you're lucky and/or it's in good shape), if I'm not going to play it then I'm probably not going to keep it, so I'd probably sell it if I ever got my hands on one (since the game sucks). But then I don't really like Berzerk on the Vectrex (as you'd later also warn about), yet I'm keeping my copy, for some reason (hence why I said I'd "probably" sell Chuckwagon if I ever got a copy of it). I sent away for the Crest "tooth protectors" game, thinking my little sis might think it was fun. I probably only played it once or twice. I only recently discovered it's "highly collectable." But sadly, not much fun. Just like Chase the Chuckwagon, or Custer's Revenge. But It's good to know what the collector set is paying big bucks for - in case I ever see Chase the Chuckwagon at a flea market for a buck. P. Position's worth a crapload though! Indeed! Although I dig wyldephang's collection style: Playable beats collectible. My ideal 2600 collection only has 11 games so I guess I'm not much of a collector. I'm also a fan of keeping only the port of a game that's most representative of its original essence - at least in my memory of the game. Example: for my money, the best version of Joust and PacMan are in MAME, therefore I don't need them for the 2600, 5200, or 7800. But Warlords, I never played in the arcade, so I prefer the 2600 version. Perhaps the magic is in the memories, I dunno.

That's why I got rid of my 7800 version of Joust, as I had the translated version of it on Williams' Arcade's Greatest Hits for my Genesis. But Warlords, I never played in the arcade, so I prefer the 2600 version. Perhaps the magic is in the memories, I dunno. Warlords was one of the very rare games that did better at home than it did in the arcade (I only saw one arcade machine myself back in the day). And the 2600 port has far more variations than the arcade game does, as it just has settings for 1-4 human players, and that's it. And the 2600 port of Lock 'n Chase is better than the original arcade, if you ask me, since the arcade version is harder with those doors that are constantly opening and closing right below the prizes. The 2600 version didn't have those.

Actually for Warlords, the 2600 version was programmed first and then transferred to the arcade. Just Atari held the 2600 version back until after the arcade released, making it look like a conversion.

Oh yeah, that sounds right. I recall the "Once Upon Atari" documentary they interviewed the woman who coded Warlords.
They didn't say specifically, but seemed to regard her as the creator of the game, unlike some other games by other programmers where they call them out as being arcade ports (like space invaders.) Although I could be mixing up multiple histories - some documentary video, some articles.

Carla Meninsky. It wasn't actually really known about 2600 Warlords being first until fairly recently when Carla did an interview for I forget which publication. It wasn't mentioned during the Once Upon Atari files (which I own on DVD).

........As long as I think I have a good sampling of what the system has to offer, I'm content! ........ Wyldephang, here's a good list of what Retro Gamer magazine thinks is the 10 best games for the Vectrex.

Wyldephang, here's a good list of what Retro Gamer magazine thinks is the 10 best games for the Vectrex. As with any "Top 10", "Top 50", "Top 100", or whatever list, it is a little controversial. Some games I would not include and Vector Pilot tends to be unanomously at the top of everyone's list, however it is missing.

I had a look at the poll, but I am not "KING PIMP of the Vectrex". Ha ha, I liked that description I don´t know much about the "rare Japanese Vectrex Kousokusen" and I don´t have any "Vectrex display stands". I have all the original games complete, but for some only the European or only the US version. I have some homebrew titles and few "rarer" items like the 3D imager, the light pen and the Pitcher´s Duel transperent green repro cartridge, but that´s it. I would like to buy everything, but I still need to be able to look deep into Mrs. Vecrexroli´s eyes without any guilty feelings.

Makes me think of a coworker who used to get his wife stuff he wanted for Christmas and special occasions. Got her a chainsaw because he knew shed give it to him. Just get her Vectrex items for special occasions.

Actually, maybe not the best idea. That one video said you were killed by a Vectrex falling on your head but it didn't say that it didn't have help falling...

You get a mention again due to your videos. I don´t know much about the "rare Japanese Vectrex Kousokusen" Lets just say if any of us even SEES one in person at a gaming or museum expo ever in our lives then we're lucky. I'm not counting on it myself but I wouldn't mind being proven wrong though. I would like to buy everything, but I still need to be able to look deep into Mrs. Vecrexroli´s eyes without any guilty feelings. Then as Big Country used to say, you could just "look away"

Then as Big Country used to say, you could just "look away" Thanks for mentioning me, usually when people mention my name, they are standing in front of my house holding torches and pitchforks in their hands, so it is nice to be mentioned in a positive way. Looking away does not help, when a package arrives she can look directly into my soul and she knows everything. It is almost like her mind has direct access to my PayPal account!
