Hello, I'm a new member of this forum, have never been on it before just signed up today. I joined this forum because I have a strong interest in classic vector style arcade games, especially those made by Cinematronics. Thanks for joining, and you're definitely at the right place for those kinds of conversations! You might want to go here and either add to that thread to promote your company or make your own individual thread in that area of the forum...either way it doesn't matter to me. Backdrops are impossible to use with the Vectex system (unless you want to build your own cabinet with half-silvered mirror and backdrop art work to house your Vectrex monitor) Well, with all the stuff people HAVE done with the Vectrex, maybe that'll be next! (Vectrexmad is either planning or is working on correctly fitting a Vectrex into an arcade cab, so maybe that'll be a finishing touch?) Atari Interactive has already purged the iOS store of anything resembling their old vector games, Vector Tanks and Vector Tanks Extreme were victims of their recent cleansing operation. Yeah, it's been discussed elsewhere on here, which sucks, especially since (which you might already know) that the guy who developed the original Vector Tanks tried to steer it as far away as possible from Battlezone (aside from having vector-like graphics, that is) and also repeatedly tried contacting Infogrammes (I refuse to call them "Atari") to see about making V. Tanks an "official" version of Battlezone. They never responded. Stupid...don't you want to make some money with licensing? What is disappointing to me about the Fury Unlimited Warrior game is that only 150 people will be able to own a copy of it. I can understand that though due to the production cost of creating a physical cartridge and a physical overlay to place over the monitor on this old Vectrex system. Aside from the problem of playing it without an overlay, George has released several of his limited edition games to play for free on emulators and multicarts. His last several games (I do believe, or at least that's the case with Sectis) are his first dives into the test waters of making unlimited editions. But I'll stop there and have him explain it better (especially if I get anything wrong ) once he gets here.

@vectorx - Thanks for the greeting. I'll post an intro in the near future. I like your avatar selections.. I chose one from one of my favorite vector games.

One quick comment after reading the developers description of his Warrior overlay, and then looking at the image on his website. I don't understand how the knight vector lines could be tinted yellow as he shows it on the image. If that region of the overlay is indeed red as he appears to have it, the two knights should be red also.
I think red was a good choice in this case instead of the more commonly seen cyan-blue overlay color. The red portion of the overlay reminds me of the 1982 Rockola game, Demon.

My guess is that he's doing the color thing for artistic merit or trying to make up his mind on which ones to use...or maybe neither. Wow, you actually played Demon? I had never even heard of that one until a few years ago. And glad you like the icons, they were fun to do

Yes, I came across one Rockola Demon machine, in the wild, on the Ocean City, NJ Boardwalk back in summer of 82 or 83. I believe it was the last vector machine ever manufactured using the old Space Wars TTL-based hardware. I also saw and played an Armor Attack machine at the same location.
The Cinematronics/Vectorbeam machine that I saw most frequently back in the day, was Star Castle, that game was everywhere. I never saw Warrior, Sundance or War of the Worlds in the wild..
The Atlantic City, NJ and Ocean City, NJ Boardwalk arcades had so many different games during that 77 to 83 Golden Age period that I am sort of mystified why I never at least saw one Warrior machine. The other two I can understand, as they were quite rare. Could be because I was only there for one week each summer during that time period.
Of course I have never seen Tim Skelly in the wild either.. haha.

The irony, since I just thought Demon was like Armor Attack, but on foot! I wonder why they called it "Demon" anyway? Odd choice for a name, if you ask me... The Cinematronics/Vectorbeam machine that I saw most frequently back in the day, was Star Castle, that game was everywhere. Yeah, it was huge! I never saw Warrior, Sundance or War of the Worlds in the wild.. The other two I can understand, as they were quite rare. Yep. I never heard of the other two until the last 10 years or so due to the internet. Warrior I only saw at one game room. Of course I have never seen Tim Skelly in the wild either.. haha. Who the heck did?!

Hi Celtroniclabs. Previously you wrote - 'My question to the developer of this Warrior Vectrex game is how are you able to legally use the Cinematronics/Vectorbeam game names for your software products?' That had crossed my mind also. (Not that I'm complaining.) I did pm George to ask if he had any links to the company but as yet not had a reply. In fairness I appreciate he's a busy guy. If you get five George, what's the story?

I assume there's some kind of technicalities around that, as he added "2011" and "2012" to the titles, plus the statements of who programmed them and they were copyrighted by Cinematronics. Again, I'm just guessing though, so we'll just have to wait and see.

So what's the skinny on Warrior? Is it ready and if not when?

Heh bumping this thread mostly. I just watched video of old Warrior machine. I had previously seen stills of the "warriors" and had mistaken them for spaceships. The animation is awesome on the old one (i'm sure excellent in the new one too based on the other Fury productions). Took me a while to find the page on the Fury site, as it was not listed in the menu links of games, but on the initial "console" page.
I found articles mentioning "pre-order" of Warrior, but see nothing about pre-ordering on the site. I've got to be one of those 150 people! I'm especially happy to see a Fury game with an OVERLAY.
.. Reviewing previous posts in this thread, I basically agree that "clear" overlay is not sensible. If there were also opaque areas that demonstrated a playing field that would justify an overlay that included clear areas, but there's no reason not to give a color tint of some kind, as it looks so much better. ... RE: the color red - I've noticed few if any overlays really effectively produce RED vector sprites. It usually looks more yellow or orange. Something to do with the color spectrum and how humans perceive it i think. If you compare red lasers to green lasers for example, green are almost automatically more visible and persistent, brighter to us.

A red overlay might especially work, since Sectis is supposed to take place outside of hell, so it might be used for that game too

Red overlays i have are Scramble, Bedlam and Cosmic Chasm. None produce red vectors. Star Hawk is orange-ish and sort of succeeds in producing orange..

^Yes, it was originally either 100 or 125 copies, now it's up to 150. So I assume he'll be taking more orders at some point. The Warrior page had said "sold out!" for months. I think it was like $72 total, which included shipping; it was like $67 or something not including shipping. What red overlay have you seen that actually makes the sprites look RED? Red overlays i have are Scramble, Bedlam and Cosmic Chasm. I hadn't seen any (except for Cosmic Chasm, but that was years ago since the game wasn't mine), but what colors the graphics end up looking doesn't really matter to me.
