^I really don't see why people don't clean the blasted units first. Maybe this guy just got it from a resale shop and was just ditching it (/didn't respect it at all)?

The hum is just part of the charm to me heh. But I understand the OCD thing... however, while people may think I have it, this is not an aspect that annoys me.

gah this thread makes me want to start another Vectrex collection! A couple of things I want to comment on: A lot of nitromikee's NOS Vectrex stuff is heavily water damaged or crushed - still technically 'new' but I would be willing to bet a few of those games will be a disappointment. I'm hoping you get lucky Collecting so much Vectrex in so little time makes me think you should have been more patient. In my case, for Polar Rescue, I almost dropped $150+ to finish my set a few times, but I was glad I waited when a BIN appeared on eBay at just over $100. Of course, you don't want to wait too long, or the value might skyrocket! I like the hum too - personally I would find it disturbing if I turned on a Vectrex and it wasn't there. Lastly - ianoid over at AA makes great Vectrex box protectors at a great price, check those out!

A couple of things I want to comment on: A lot of nitromikee's NOS Vectrex stuff is heavily water damaged or crushed - still technically 'new' but I would be willing to bet a few of those games will be a disappointment. I'm hoping you get lucky I know all about Mike's inventory, but I have a feeling you will be pleasantly suprised at the condition of what I'll soon be receiving, trust me. The company I work for owns Royal Purple Raceway here in Baytown. It's a NHRA 1/4 mile track. Do you know why Mike C. uses "nitro" in the beginning of his nickname? Sometimes when people share the same passions, certain things happen in certain ways. I already know three of the game boxes are going to be shot, but that doesn't bother me one bit. I've already bought good copies of those and have them headed my way. If you go back a page, you'll notice I took shots from all angles of my Star Trek game, yet not of Spike. Everything I do is for a reason, care to guess who I bought my Star Trek game from? You guys have no idea who I am or how I roll, if y'all believe I am that naive or ignorant, then boy are y'all in for a shock. Collecting so much Vectrex in so little time makes me think you should have been more patient. In my case, for Polar Rescue, I almost dropped $150+ to finish my set a few times, but I was glad I waited when a BIN appeared on eBay at just over $100. Of course, you don't want to wait too long, or the value might skyrocket! Again, you guys do not know me at all. I am one of the people who are actually blessed with what they coin ADD/HD, when it's kicking hard I get into something HARD! It's like a Hyper-Focus, a fixation that takes over. I'm not only buying Vectrex right now. lol. I have dropped serious coin on Colecovision hardware, CIB games, CIB Intellivision games, more Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Apple //e hardware/software, Vintage IBM gear and piles of 80's gaming magazines. I've been blessed with a good job and I'm divorced, which is a deadly combination, but lots of forum members and eBay'ers are reaping a windfall right now. I felt I over-paid for the two CIB Vectrex joysticks I've bought in the past two weeks, but after having them in my possession I can fully attest they have hardly been used, if they were ever used. So now I feel comfortable that I made a wise decision on throwing down what I threw down on them, since to me they are a true investment, two "like-new" Vectrex joysticks CIB that are unobtainable new anywhere. The first two Vectrex's I bought I feel confident I made good purchases. They are both solid machines, especially the first one (Made in Hong Kong), but cosmetically they are both annoying me a bit. Hence why I am seriously contemplating building a custom cabinet for Vectrex #1. Vectrex #2 was bought solely as a backup/parts machine, along with being able for my son and his friends to both have a Vectrex to play at the same time. Both of these units will soon be re-capped and Vectrex #2 will be the guinea pig for the humm reduction mod. I appreciate your concern for my financial well being, but trust me, I'm fine. Like in my RL job, I do my due diligence, unlike most others. I research and ask questions, then assess if im dealing with a honest person or not. I deal with thrash everyday that are the ones who successfully scam people all day/every day. Well they run into me and find they stumbled across their worst nightmare. Sure I buy things on impulse as we all do and later find the same item I wish I would have waited for. In those situations I typically buy the item I should have waited for and sell the one I bought before. So someone else gets a bargin on an item that most others would be satisfied with. I like the hum too - personally I would find it disturbing if I turned on a Vectrex and it wasn't there. To me that hum is unbearable. I'm very thankful people have shared two different levels of mod to eliminate it. Lastly - ianoid over at AA makes great Vectrex box protectors at a great price, check those out! . Thank you for that info brother, I will definitely hit him up. Let's see what Mike has as a surprise for RedRaider shall we. Stay Tuned.....

Ha ha, I know what you mean, or at least partly, since I checked out your forums the other night. You've got an entire section for people to mouth off against vendors that do crappy jobs with various things/services. And those that are overseas where they can't file lawsuits can't do anything about bad reviews (that it sounds like they deserved anyway). You sow what you reap!

Sometimes when people share the same passions, certain things happen in certain ways. Good to hear, I was just making sure you knew. Mike was an cool guy do deal with - I got one of his first units and I believe the first sealed one he sold. I believe my Heads Up! and Rip Off also came from him. Everything I do is for a reason, care to guess who I bought my Star Trek game from? nitromikee? You guys have no idea who I am or how I roll, if y'all believe I am that naive or ignorant, then boy are y'all in for a shock. You are correct, but I am glad to have met you! A very good personality to have in our small community it seems! I'm not only buying Vectrex right now. I know, you're bidding on two of my (non-Vectrex) eBay items right now! I felt I over-paid for the two CIB Vectrex joysticks I've bought in the past two weeks...now I feel comfortable that I made a wise decision on throwing down what I threw down on them, since to me they are a true investment... True that. Those are pretty hard to come by. I'm more talking about the expensive, common stuff I know you want: lightpen, 3D imager, Star Castle, maybe even the carrying case or the dust cover. Both of these units will soon be re-capped and Vectrex #2 will be the guinea pig for the humm reduction mod. To me that hum is unbearable. I'm very thankful people have shared two different levels of mod to eliminate it. Nice. I wish I had the $ or space to have a spare Vectrex (or 6: www.atarihq.com/vectrex/vectrex-hdn1.jpg ) Still, I must wholeheartedly disagree with you about the hum. I love how you can hear the Vectors change when you're playing with the sound off.

Desfeek...
I know you have had to have seen the pictures above by now brother.
Zero water damage and very minimal box damage, considering the age of this Vectrex (late US model that appears to have been Made in Taiwan due to SN on box) I'd say it's pretty damn tits !!!

I have to take some shots of some Colecovision hardware I recently acquired, all CIB of course, then my new/old Vectrex and all the other goodies I bought from Mike C. will get my full attention in my modest Home Studio.
