Well I will use this thread to post up pics of my Vectrex units / accessories / games. Took some quick pics of Vectrex Unit #1. I bought this unit off eBay a couple of weeks ago. It's purpose in life will be the daily gaming unit. Screen displays a excellent picture, nice sharp vectors. It was bought bare, without a joystick, but I got that covered already as you will see. I gave this unit a proper through detailing job, boy was it dirty. I will be retaking these pictures once it is dark, the ambient light in the room is affecting these pics in a way I do not care for. Vectrex #2 This is how you properly package and ship a Vectrex Many thanks to the awesome deal on Vectrex #2 from fellow AtariAge member: keilbacaOf the two units in my possession so far, this unit is definitely the less aesthetic of the two. There were some white markings on the shell, that are just not able to be removed. This unit received RedRaider's complete detail job (which it needed in a bad way) and despite the looks is clean as a button. Unfortunately, as with most all Taiwan manufactured models, this Vectrex suffers the dreaded image shift, which is down and to the left. I plan on re-centering the image when I have this unit opened up to be re-capped and have the hum-removal mod performed. Enjoy...

Vectrex #3 (NISB-NOS) Here is my precious. Have not decided if I am going to open this unit up or not. But I have definitely decided to buy one more sealed unit, that's for sure. The box is actually in damn good shape, considering it is 28-29 years old. Based upon the SN on the box, this is a Made in Taiwan unit, which means it was made close to the end of the Vectrex's production life. Enjoy... Here were some quick and dirty iPhone 4S pics of Vectrex #3, after it arrived at my office.

Pretty (*#!ing nice, especially those game boxes! I hate to admit that MB controller looks REAL good (just a bit biased against them for majorly screwing up the distribution of the Vectrex ). BTW, there's a collection area here. Did you want me to move this post there? Or you could just leave it here, it doesn't matter to me.

Thank you for the compliments. That MB joystick did not look as nice as it does now when I received it, that is the product of lots of elbow grease. Wait till you see the next batch of NISB-NOS system and games I'm getting in soon. Also, Vectrex #2 arrived in the mail today, going to clean her up before taking her pictures though. Plus other Vectrex goodies are inbound as well.
That sub-forum doesn't get much action, that's why I posted this up in the Vectrex sub-forum.
Nice site you got here. I live in Baytown, what part of Houston are you at?

That MB joystick did not look as nice as it does now when I received it, that is the product of lots of elbow grease. Yeah you had said that first Vectrex was pretty dirty. I had cleaned a couple of Sega Genesis' last year I had bought from a resale shop I found before sending them to a friend in Jersey. Everything was dirty, including the Targus carrying case they came in (the latter had looked like it had been buried in a yard or something!). These were the model 2s with only one RF box with a cut wire leading to the tv, which I have the original Genesis model with a different RF box and power supply, hence I couldn't even find out if they worked or not since they're not compatible with the model 1s (there's a workaround an RF box without the wire, but not being a tech guy I didn't bother getting into it My friend said he could). I do have the Sega 32X with the same compatible power supply, which I plugged it in and turned it on with a cartridge in the units, which the lights came on, indicating that they worked, at least. My friend said they both ended up working when he got them. So that was good That sub-forum doesn't get much action, that's why I posted this up in the Vectrex sub-forum. You could've expanded it some!! Thanks! It's been fun to do I live in Baytown, what part of Houston are you at? Yeah I was going to ask where in Texas you lived next I'm in the west part, going towards Katy.

Go ahead and move this thread brother. You need to let me take you to lunch one day. I'm traveling around the Greater Houston Area all day/every day. In fact, every asphalt parking lot you have parked on, I sold the asphalt for, as I am the only commercial salesman for the only asphalt producer in this area.

Go ahead and move this thread brother. Nah it's no problem. Just as long as there's posts on here it's all good Especially when your Vectrex stuff looks as good as it does! BTW, how'd you get a MB controller, from e-bay? You need to let me take you to lunch one day. Sounds good! Might be some difficulty ahead of time (my car's out of commission right now so I'd have to borrow one) but maybe we could work something out. In fact, every asphalt parking lot you have parked on, I sold the asphalt for, as I am the only commercial salesman for the only asphalt producer in this area. Impressive!

I'm a little jealous of the MB controller. It's so much more attractive than the original IMO. I'm curious though why you keep buying these sweet Vectrexes if you only have two games? Not really among the best games in my opinion either. What do you do with these consoles? Or maybe you have other games that are not complete that you play?
I've got a handful of complete games I might sell or trade. Like new condition Spinball, Berzerk and Rip Off. Other CIB games in lesser condition. If you have any broken or beat-up stuff that doesn't meet your standards, I might be interested in trading for it.
I just looked through your Vectrex wanted thread on AtariAge and noticed you mentioning getting capacitor replacements on your Vectrexes. I'd be interested to hear how that goes.

Yep, that MB cost me over $100 to win and be shipped from Greece. Once it was properly cleaned, it looks really damn sexy, imho. The spring is still good, but much looser than the damn near unused boxed one I also won on eBay. I won a second boxed joystick today on eBay as well.
bwaaahahahahaha
Plus I still have a NISB-NOS Vectrex headed to Houston (not the one on Ebay) along with 9 more NISB-NOS games.
Also, received my 72 Game MultiCart in the mail today and have a sacrificial Vectrex cartridge to install it in tomorrow. Good times my Vectrex brothers, good times indeed.

I want to buy your CIB Berzerk and Spinball brother, PM me some pics please. Also PM me a list of the "lesser quality" CIB games you have and I'll let you know which one's I'd like pics of. I just bought these three Vectrex units in the past 1.5 weeks, give me some time to get my collection up and running. I thought I was doing pretty good for not even owning a Vectrex 2 weeks ago. LOL Yep, I ordered some re-cap kits and am going to have a technician at our local Fox Channel re-cap the two loose Vectrex's I own. Seriously considering trying the "hum eliminator" mod on one of the units as well. That damn hum is annoying as a mother to my ADD/HD. I will definitely be posting here, AtariAge and my own forum how the mods turn out. Stay Tuned, ol' RedRaider is just getting started...

Seriously considering trying the "hum eliminator" mod on one of the units as well. That damn hum is annoying as a mother to my ADD/HD. I've pretty much had it with mine. As VectrexMad said once (elsewhere, not here), he doesn't mind it, as it's just the way the system is, but on some of the homebrews where there's little or no sound at times (especially ones where there's a pause where you don't get attacked if there's not something currently coming out at you, like with I, Cyborg or Sectis) gets especially annoying. Eventually when my Vectrex bites the dust and I have to get if fixed I'll definitely bring a printout of the "quiet Vectrex" mod on the net and tell them to fix that too! I bought mine back in '84 and have had enough of it, thank you!

Well Vectrex #2 has the image off-center and down to the left. Looks like this puppy is getting it's clothes taken off and the image readjusted back to center., when it gets re-capped.
Damn Made in Taiwan unit. The guy I bought it from told me he bought from Japan. I'm not going to complain too much at the price I paid for it, I always intended it to be a parts back-up anyway. Boy is it filthy too.
