Just want to let you know that there's some action in the background regarding the games list: SpidExAlexander has confirmed that his SpidEx can still be bought. In addition, a binary that can be used for the Vector War will be available for free, soon. Color Clash slimColor clash seems a bit of a problem. I've just sent a mail to Martijn W., author of ColorClash, asking for the status. Beluga DreamsBeluga Dreams is a good suggestion. I've just contacted Nathan, the author of Beluga Dreams to clarify some details. VectorbladeVectorblade might become a candidate. Yes, only 100 copies are around but there might be a way to get around this problem. Let's see. Games of Vectrex acacemyThis year's Vectrex Academy at the Uni Pforzheim had ad difficult time due to the Corona pandemic. All courses and sessions were held from remote which made things quite difficult. I haven't tried out the games myself, yet, so it's hard to say whether they would be good choices for the Vector War ot not. Peer: ROTOR is a brain-game and therefore it can't be played in Vector War X. In Vector War X, 'no-brainers' are played, only. Maybe next year.

Promising Prizes - Addendum Above I mentioned that there will be cool prizes that can be won in Vector War X. I forgot to mention that Nathan has donated a copy of Beluga Dreams for the Vector War X. Thank you, Nathan!

Has anyone tried to play SpidEx with 2 original controllers? Maybe we should agree whether it is supposed to be played with just one stick or not?

I am still quite satisfied with the results of the course. However, I think that none of this year's games is really well suited for being played in a tournament. We would still love to learn what you all think about the student games in general.
Many Cheers, Peer

Just in case that you still do not find enough suitable games, I could easily create a version of Rotor that features rotors of size 1 only...

Every Day Is Halloween would be another good one to think about. Chris made it available as a download earlier this year.
Although you'd probably only want one vertical shooter.

^We'd have to round up the scores on that one though. Because what you can do is rack up a bunch of lives (I think 9 is the limit), keep on dying/restarting a day over and over and you'll end up with a higher score rather than if you just went through the whole game without going through one or more days repeatedly.
Not that huge a deal though, I don't think, but it'd have to be considered.

Has anyone tried to play SpidEx with 2 original controllers? Maybe we should agree whether it is supposed to be played with just one stick or not? A good and important aspect, fmml. Not all people have two controllers so I think that SpidEx must be played with one original controller, only. ... I am still quite satisfied with the results of the course. ROTOR with rotors of size 1 is probably as much fun as skiing without snow. Every Day Is Halloween would be another good one to think about. Chris made it available as a download earlier this year. Although you'd probably only want one vertical shooter. Hmm, playing "Every Day is Halloween" during the Vector War which is on on the day of halloween makes sense. Perhaps another good option. ^We'd have to round up the scores on that one though. It is not official yet, as all parts haven't gotten back to me about it just yet, but that doesn't stop me from being all excited and giggly about it. So I just have to hint and tease about it or I'll burst. I have just come to an agreement with a for now secret person, that we should collaborate on a for now still secret thing and donate it as a prize in Vector War X. If all parts accepts the terms I suggested, it is going to be a prize of epic proportions! Of that I am sure. Stay tuned.

[/quote] Not quite "cheating", but more like "farming", I'd think. Like I said, if someone can get through the game until the end without losing many lives and starting days over and over again, their score would be lower. Now let's say someone does well during the first couple of weeks on the game, then makes it to a later day, like October 19 or something. They keep on going scoring points, die, and have to start that day over again. The points accumulate once more, then they die and have to start the day over once more. They earn points again, die again, earn more points once more, etc. It adds up. If I had a video or something to demonstrate my point I'd link to it but I don't have one, unfortunately.

ROTOR with rotors of size 1 is probably as much fun as skiing without snow. You are right, but while skiing without snow is virtually impossible, ROTOR with only rotors of size 1 at least gives the players some fair and reasonable chance of winning...

I'm very nosey, Tony, and I'll stay tuned.
