Daniel of Packrat Video Games has replied right away: David will try to deliver VeCaves a.s.a.p. but he can't do magic. I'd say buyers located in the U.S. are pretty safe to receive VeCaves in time. For countries/continents other than the U.S. it's unsure but well worth a try.

Will we allow similar controller schemes as last time as well? Yes, rules for controllers will be the same as last year (please see initial post). Please make sure to post a picture with whole Wallach family sitting in front of Vectorcades. Heh heh, we'll see how it goes "Walach" ( source) "Spike get's squished" is very playable, puts Spike into scene, and is freely available. Last-not-least it's programmed by Brett, a novice Vectrex programmer but a veteran Vectrex hardware specialist. That's at least four good reasons to put "Spike get's squished" onto this year's game list. Sweet!! "Spike Gets Squished" ( source) I will have a Vector War XII competition version of Spike Gets Squished available soon. It should probably be based on Game B as well, but will be harder and not capped at 10k points. Another request was that it have a nice long high score screen with large score.

I put my VeCaves order in months ago and just got and paid the invoice. I'm looking forward to participating this year. I missed last year I think I was busy but always have a good time when I participate.

brett: Great that you intend to create a special CompEdition of your Spike gets squished for the coming Vector War. Once you have a final binary I'll pack it into the ZIP archive together with all other free binaries. jbrodack: Thank you for the info, Justin, and good to see you around. VeCaves will be the only game that isn't available freely so it shouldn't be too bad and critical for the tournament if one doesn't get your copy in time. VeCaves and other games that Daniel offers on his website (e.g. Vectrexagon) are really worth while being played within or outside of the Vector War.

So happy to see Spike gets squished added to the list for this year, really enjoyed playing it when first binary was released and still playing it today. Also have a copy of vecaves here that I haven't put much time into so this is a great excuse for me to spend some more time with it. Not sure how football will work as a competition game but need to try it out.

Soccer was the very first Vectrex cartridge I got as a kid back in the eighties. My father gave it to me along with a second controller, and I remember playing against my brother for hours. It would indeed be a cool Vector War if we participants could all play each other round robin tournament style. For playing against the computer, we would have to agree on a difficulty level, and then try to score the best result within the given time. I recall the level 1 computer to be fairly week. If I manage, I give the game a shot this weekend. Always like it and have not played it in ages. Vector War would he a great reason to play it again. Though it could be that there is a pretty easy strategy to beat the computer, and then it just takes concentration to score the maximum possible number of goals in the restricted time.
Cheers, Peer

Thank you, Peer, for looking into this matter. Until now, I haven't played Heads Up Soccer (aka: Soccer Football) at all. Question is whether it has some kind of comparable scoring at all which we can use within Vector War. No need to check whether there's something like a maximum score that everyone can achieve unless this maximum score can be achieved very esily. We'll find out about a maximum score within the Vector War.

You could always ask Malban to implement a real time network multiplayer mode in Vide and allow this game to be played emulated in the Vector War The score of Soccer / Football is simply the result of the game. The number of goals you scored versus the number of goals your opponent scored. Comparisons can be rated just like in the real sports events. Wins are better than draws or losses. Wins can be ranked against each other according to the absolute number of goals scored and/or the difference between goals scored and goals received.

I just wanted to stress how cool it would be to have player-against-player matches between all participants. I would definitely prefer it if we all meet personally in some nice recess, play and chat all night long and eat pizza together.

There will be a formula which computes a score. e.g. something like Win * 20000 + Draw * 10000 + Loss * 00000 + (goals scored - goals received) * 100 + goals scored. E.g. a score of 7:2 will have a score of 20507 points. Again, thank you very much for checking. Game list for Vector War XII is set, now. Prize list starts filling up, too: Tony will donate another wooden spoon prize - a photo of this cool item will follow, soon.

I am glad to see Spike gets Squished and VeCaves added to the game list for this years war. What a happy coincidence that I already have received my VeCaves from Packrat earlier this year. Back in "analog times" I was a master of the original game SFcave on Palm-OS for Palm-Pilot, that VeCaves is a port of. We'll see how well I fare in VeCaves as I haven't played it all that much since I got it. I kind of just went straight to making a totally unnecessary aluminium shell for it instead of playing it. I aim to provide fierce competition in SGS as I am somewhat of a maze game aficionado.
You will also hopefully see the return of the by now veteran Vector War players Moyu and Len. I will make sure of that.

Ah, Tony, master of drilling himself posts here. Very good to read from you. You seem well prepared for the coming Vector War. Just make sure that you don't win your own prizes. Would be cool if Moyu and Len participated, again. I guess that Walach family will be around so would be good if we had a European equivalent. ____ Is it the third or the fourth year that Tony (you) introduced a tradition to the Vector War? Anyway, the Wooden spoon is inspired by the wooden spoon prize donated at Cambridge University. It will be awarded to the second last winner. An image speaks more than a thousand words - here's a picture of the wooden spoon awarded in Vector War XII: Wooden spoon is vacuum-packed to protect it against dust, mold, UV light, Corona, and more. If you look closely you'll see that the Vector War wooden spoon has even received three design awards. Really worth while competing for second last rank... ... and while we are at it: Tony has crafted even another prize: An aluminum cartridge "Spike gets squished". I'd say "Wow, he did it, again!" - thank you very much, Tony, for crafting and donating the beautiful aluminum cartridge. A cartridge shell needs a PCB and this one comes from Brett. So it's not just an aluminum cartridge shell but a complete game "Spike gets squished" packed into a beautiful aluminum cartridge shell. Thank you very much, Tony and Brett, you guys are great!

Hi all, I'm back and super excited for the upcoming VWXII. I'm disappointed I can't play VeCaves, as I've taken a back seat in buying Vectrex games this year, and no chance it would arrive in time now. Still the games list is strong with a few new to me titles that I can't wait to fire up.
