brett: Great that you intend to create a special CompEdition of your Spike gets squished for the coming Vector War. Once you have a final binary I'll pack it into the ZIP archive together with all other free binaries. jbrodack: Thank you for the info, Justin, and good to see you around. VeCaves will be the only game that isn't available freely so it shouldn't be too bad and critical for the tournament if one doesn't get your copy in time. VeCaves and other games that Daniel offers on his website (e.g. Vectrexagon) are really worth while being played within or outside of the Vector War. Just wanted to set the right expectations. Checking my order it's set to be delivered October 24th. He sells a lot of good games there so probably tough to keep up with orders. Has every day is Halloween been used for vector war? I think I've suggested it a few times but forget if it's been used. Great game and fits the time of year. How are prizes being done this year? I know there's usually a random drawing and the spoon as well at top 3 prizes. I would like to see runner up prizes for 4th and 5th if possible. Maybe t shirt or something small. I'm looking forward to competing against. My Vectrex has been getting neglected lately so glad to have some reason to get back into it.

Hi all, I'm back and super excited for the upcoming VWXII. I'm disappointed I can't play VeCaves, as I've taken a back seat in buying Vectrex games this year, and no chance it would arrive in time now. Still the games list is strong with a few new to me titles that I can't wait to fire up. Cool that you're around and will participate, again, Ross. And good to read that you like the game list - I'm pretty sure that you'll like it even more once Vector War XII has started. ___ Just wanted to set the right expectations. Checking my order it's set to be delivered October 24th. He sells a lot of good games there so probably tough to keep up with orders. Thank you for the extra info, Justin. When did you place your order? Has every day is Halloween been used for vector war? I think I've suggested it a few times but forget if it's been used. Great game and fits the time of year. EDIH has been played in Vector War X and your score was 13625 points. But perhaps a game worth while being replayed in a Vector War - IPYVD and all hollow's eve always falls into the time of the Vector War and EDIH really fits in with it's athmosphere. But not this year - game list is complete. How are prizes being done this year? I know there's usually a random drawing and the spoon as well at top 3 prizes. I would like to see runner up prizes for 4th and 5th if possible. Maybe t shirt or something small. It's always good for a tournament if cool prizes can be won. So far there's the cool wooden spoon and the unique Spike gets squished aluminum cartridge (see above). Depending on donations there might be even prizes for the 4th or 5th. I'm looking forward to competing against. My Vectrex has been getting neglected lately so glad to have some reason to get back into it. Your seventh Vector War and still keen to compete with other players.

I honestly didn't mind tying for 1st place last year, but there should only be one first place!! (I was really probably 3rd place ) Should we come up with a way to sort out tie-breakers this year? If there's more than one first place, look at the top 7, 8 or 9 etc.. game scores? I suppose the same could happen for any place. I've got the competition version of Spike Gets Squished working! I'd like to play test it more and add a few things, but as-is I believe it is good. I'll try my best to make it harder than I can deal with to reach the top score, but not so hard it's impossible (hopefully, hard to know with that one). It will have a top score of either 65,000 or 650,000 though... just before it maxes out at 16-bit 65535. I won't bore you with the details there, but let's just say if you make it to 65,000 you should get a gold medal as it stands, and if you make it to 650,000 you are truly truly committed (and should be committed.. haha) and I salute you!!!! 10,000 in Game B(2) is hard enough for most people and would be good practice for Game C(3), Competition Mode.

If there's more than one first place, look at the top 7, 8 or 9 etc.. game scores? I suppose the same could happen for any place. I don't mind having three winners and winners' agreeing on the prizes worked very well. Sure enough we can enhance the number of games that are used to calculate score but this may disadvantage people who don't that many games. What do other people think? Great that your Spike gets Squished is ready for competition. I assume that when highscore is displayed one can clearly see which mode has been played, right? If you provide the binary I can pack it into the ZIP archive.

I'm a bit late to the party here (where does time go)...
But if there is room for another homebrew would there be any interest in a special mini-game version of my work-in-progress shooter 'Vyrzon'? If so I could probably rustle something up quite quickly.

Just for the record, me, and my kids Len and Moyu will all three be immune to winning prizes donated by me. "Immune to winning prizes" is a nice phrase and we understand what you mean. I'm a bit late to the party here (where does time go)... But if there is room for another homebrew would there be any interest in a special mini-game version of my work-in-progress shooter 'Vyrzon'? If so I could probably rustle something up quite quickly. Great to read from you, minsoft, and thank you for your offering a mini-game version. Game list is complete and I'd prefer if Vyrzon was played next year. On the other hand there's still some room in the game list, I like if people support the Vector War, and already Peer has liked your suggestion. So: If you manage to create a playable version that has scoring and is ready for tournament, I'll squeeze it this year's game list. Final ZIP archive with games played in Vector War XII will be packed on Friday evening (MESZ), so I'll need your binary by then.

List of prizes is growing, again: Brett will donate another cool Vectrex item, a mini playable Vectrex. Description and photos provided by Brett help to understand what is meant, here: "The mini playable Vectrex uses an 8-bit PIC16F886 microcontroller with 8KB of FLASH memory (just like most Vectrex games). It also has a 7x10 charlieplexed white LED matrix. Here's the boot up screen and first game port, "Scramble". I plan on adding more games and visuals to it. I'll send along a way to display it on a desk as well, powered by USB. It's very hard to capture the glow of the screen, just like a real Vectrex... but rest assured it looks really neat in real life and it's not too loud." Two pics: And a video which shows the mini playable Vectrex in action:
This prize is a small, cool Vectrex item which will be the prize for 4th winner. Thank you very much, Brett, for creating and donating this mini playable Vectrex. Notes: - Prizes B and C are still to be determined. - Less than a week till Vector War XII starts...

Very cool Brett would make a great addition to the prize list! Also would love the opportunity to blast through some Vryzon gameplay if the opportunity presents itself, what I've seen so far looks great.

The Mini Vec looks so sweet. Id totally like to get an impression of Vyrzon. Could be one of many highlights of this years tournament. PS: I am in Covid isolation currently. But I am feeling well and should be out the next couple of days. Offer is still up to send my extra copy of VecCaves for the tournament to someone who needs it. Obviously I will only be able to go to the post shortly before the competition. So if you live in Germany or in a close country let me know, I will try to send it out before the end of the week.

I hope you recover completely, soon, Roland. Thank you for your offer for renting your extra copy of VeCaves. If noone else wants to lend your copy of VeCaves I'd be interested. Let's wait a bit and see whether someone else wants and needs it for competition.

Re Vyrzon, I will see what I can come up with then. It will be a mini-game of sorts, most likely a variation of the mini-game that will be included in the final game.

Just wanted to set the right expectations. Checking my order it's set to be delivered October 24th. He sells a lot of good games there so probably tough to keep up with orders. Thank you for the extra info, Justin. When did you place your order? -So I ended up getting it Saturday the 22nd. I paid for my order on the 10th. There was also the fact that I was on a list for months before I could even get the invoice to pay because he has a backlog of orders. Has every day is Halloween been used for vector war? I think I've suggested it a few times but forget if it's been used. Great game and fits the time of year. EDIH has been played in Vector War X and your score was 13625 points. But not this year - game list is complete. -Cool I thought it may have been played once. Obviously could have looked it up but was being more conversational mentioning it. Even had my score in there lol. Hopefully next year will return. Can't have it every year but good to bring it back at least every few years. How are prizes being done this year? I know there's usually a random drawing and the spoon as well at top 3 prizes. I would like to see runner up prizes for 4th and 5th if possible. Maybe t shirt or something small. Depending on donations there might be even prizes for the 4th or 5th. -Prizes are looking great this year. The playable mini vectrex especially looks like a great collectors item. I'm hoping to get 4th or 5th. We have some great competitors here.

Just been playing heads up for a while tonight as I've never put much time into it, the games tend to go on a little Long and there's a huge Spike in difficulty between level 2 and 3.. Level 1 - too easy you can walk into the goal with the ball Level 2 - moderate, can be frustrating but definitely achievable to beat the ai Level 3 - impossible (for me at least) just got trounced 5-0
