Just been playing heads up for a while tonight as I've never put much time into it, the games tend to go on a little Long and there's a huge Spike in difficulty between level 2 and 3.. Level 1 - too easy you can walk into the goal with the ball Level 2 - moderate, can be frustrating but definitely achievable to beat the ai Level 3 - impossible (for me at least) just got trounced 5-0 Would be cool to allow free selection of the level in the tournament and then somehow include the level in the formula that computes the tournament score. I remember that used to beat the ai at level 3. As a child

I think that "Wins" (not Draws or Losses) should count, only, otherwise including level into formula will be very difficult.

Ah, darn, a draw at level 3 might might be more difficult to achieve than a low score win at level 2. I'll think about it...

How come Solar Quest is in the tournament again when it was in last years?
I'm not complaining (I like the game), just curious.

^Original games will always be in the tournaments. Since there aren't many they get repeated. It should be a couple of years before S. Quest is repeated again though.

It's a sort of Vector War tradition that at least one game is played in two subsequent Vector Wars. This is intended as a small bonus for those people who join in every year. ...

I have sent you a PM...

Ah, darn, a draw at level 3 might might be more difficult to achieve than a low score win at level 2. I'll think about it... No formula. But restricting the tournament to either level 2 or level 3 only might end up with insufficient variation of the results. And might also be less fun. The best idea I could come up with is the following: Treat soccer-level-2 and soccer-level-3 as if they were two separate games that are played in the tournament, and for each of which the players are ranked and then awarded points according to their rank. But let those points be half as much as for the other regular games. So, in total, soccer has the same weight as all the other games. Ranking within the soccer games goes according to the real-world-like scheme: winning is better than a draw which is better than loosing, then (number of goals scored minus number of goals received), then (number of goals scored). E.g. winning 3 to 0 is better than winning 3 to 1, which is better than winning 2 to 0, and a 4 to 4 draw is better than a 3 to 3 draw, and so on. I guess you know what I mean. This makes it a bit more interesting, as both levels 2 and 3 must/can be played in the tournament. But it imposes a bit more effort on him who computes the rankings and calculates the tournament points Note, that the display of the final result of a match does not also show the level, just the goals scored. Cheers, Peer

Is normal or expert version of VeCaves going to be played for the tournament? I was trying out my copy and whew expert version is much faster.
I'm looking forward to trying spike gets squished and save the planet for the tournament.
Trying out VeCaves has me hyped for the tournament. I see long nights playing vectrex in the dark and drinking energy drinks in my future.

My vote would be: STANDARD, 1 PLAYER, 1 JOYSTICK No reason to make us hate VeCaves It's a nice game that deserves to be played for more than 10 seconds (when you play on EXPERT). You'll NEVER get far on EXPERT... it's there because it can be... not because it should be

Started to get the hang of it after a bit. I can be pretty decent at endless reaction type games. Still, standard would probably make the most sense especially since not everyone could even get a copy.

Thank you, Steve, Peer, Justin, and Brett for your posts and comments. I'm on holidays in Austria till Saturday and stay at 1.600 meters above sea level - but we have internet, here. Peer : Thank you for your thoughts on handling the levels in Heads Up Soccer. Forcing people to play Heads Up Soccer on two levels is not so good, I think. But atm I couldn't think of a better approach. :/ ... But it imposes a bit more effort on him who computes the rankings and calculates the tournament points ... Table calculation will do the job for me and it can compute rankings and scores in an instant. But I'll have to fiddle around with formulas.. ___ VeCaves will be played in Standard/normal mode. Can someone please tell me a reasonable threshold score for VeCaves? A reasonable threshold score is a score that a normal player who is new to the game can reach when playing the game 2-3 times. The threshold score shouldn't be a big hurdle but keep players from playing a game 5 seconds and then submitting a score. Game list: Asteroid BeltSteve ( minsoft ) has provided a version of his mini game 'Vyrzon: Asteroid Belt'. Game plays very well and I've decided that Asteroid Belt will be played in this Vector War. Binary of Asteroid Belt will be packed into the ZIP archive with all other binaries and provided right before begin of Vector War. Thank you very much, Steve, for this special CompEdition of your Asteroid Belt!
